When recruiting a dropdown, do you get full credit for your efforts put in before they drop down, once they actually do drop down? For example, if I put about $500 into a guy between various phone call/ packets/ coach/ scholarship, do you get full credit.

I ask this because I seem to remember people saying that with pulldowns you don't get full credit for the scouting visits.

You get full credit for the action, yes - but each action has a different value.  You can't look at it just as dollars spent - that's why SiM AI schools don't even recruit with actual dollars, they just have points that they apply to recruits (per CS).  So a scouting trip doesn't apply the same points as a home visit or campus visit, which you can't send to a drop down (until he drops or is pulled down with scouting trips).

Basically $500 in scouting trips does not equal $500 in home visits.

According to CS, and some other veteran owners, you do *not* get full credit for the scouting trips. Here is the ticket (#112783) exchange with CS:

Is the Recruiting Value of a Scouting Trip lessened for players that you are trying to "pull down" to your level?

That is, for a D3 team, will 5 Scouting Trips to a normal D3 player (no pull-down needed) earn more Recruiting Value than 5 Scouting Trips to a potential pull-down (someone who responded to first contact with a "backup" message)?

Yes, you'll get less credit if the player considers you a "backup" option.

Ok does the same apply for phone calls, coach calls, and packages. will phone calls to a DIII guy be the same value as to a guy waiting to dropdown.

I ask this because I want to know it's possible to build up a little value on a guy prior to him dropping down. I know its not a lot of value, but just an idea.

There is no recruiting credit for coach calls.  That is the #1 reason I don't use them.  The #2 reason is that I save $10 on roughly 70-80% of the guys who don't want to talk to me at all.

not sure if calls and letters have the same value, but there is a cap beyond which they don't really give much value - its around 40 somewhere I think
