That, or he's covering his butt in case Peter goes into cardiac arrest on the court...

Sorry, I was chuckling as I typed out that response. I've noticed others taking such offense to opinions, I wanted to join in on the party. I am the first to admit my team looks a lot better overall than if you took a magnifying glass to it. No perimeter shooting is chief among my weaknesses. I think I have a solid make the NT team, then bow out in the first, maybe second round if the matchup was right.  I should have posted that it was meant sarcastically, no worries.
I apologize myself, didn't have my sarcasm radar turned on, ha ha.

i dont know where the idea that stamina has no effect is coming from, it very much limits the playing time of my players in the press, and is still a major factor in the effectiveness of my players. press may be the ideal defense in d3, but i don't think that is the case in d2, and its so far from the case in d1, it would be unplayable with any nerfing. i don't think this game should be made to balance d3 as much as it should be to balance d1... and in that respect, id argue WIS should actually make the press stronger. (note, i really dont think it should be made stronger, and i would be all for eliminating it as a defense. i just dont see how it could be weakened, its already the weakest defense on the big stage.)

I am no WIS expert by any means but from what I have seen there are teams out there that have been very successful in D1 (Rupp) that run the FCP. So if it is the weakest def I would hate to have seen those teams running one of the "stronger" defenses.  It seems if you have the right set of players you can be successful running the press even at the D1 level.  The half and full court press are defensive strategies used in college basketball, I think it would weaken the WIS game to eliminate these as defensive options for coaches.  If you have the right set of players and strategy I would assume you can be successful running any of the defenses.

Press does not need eliminating. Just needs to be part of the other defenses that you set like you set your plus/minus settings.

Thats not what I said at all.  I am saying the engine plays players too long based on their stamins ratings.   Separately I think WIS adjusts too much for offensive tempo.  I also personally have seen NO difference in performance between fairly fresh and getting tired which allows more team than ever to play 8 man games.

Anyone think this is weird? Admittedly we're only 5 games into the season, but:

Melvin Wilson Sr. SF 100 5/5 28.8 13.8 6.8 0.8 90
Eric McClammy Sr. PF 100 5/5 27.6 10.4 8.4 0.4 68
Peter Burton Jr. PG 100 5/5 27.0 13.0 0.8 2.4 69

Burton and Wilson both set to Fairly Fresh, McClammy at Getting Tired. Seems to me like an extra 21 STA should probably gain you more than 1.8 MPG (ignore McClammy and his GT setup for these purposes). Wilson did foul out once, but he played 25 minutes then. Last season he only averaged 23 MPG as a starter.

What are the backups, their stamina, and the sorts of foul trouble they got in?
9/7/2012 9:22 AM
Should that matter? If these are my starters, and they're set to Fairly Fresh, shouldn't they go right back in as soon as they get to Fresh on the bench? Any backup with at least 60 STA is going to be able to play 12 MPG with no problem, so...

I wish that depth and stamina mattered more.

I haven't tracked it closely enough, but I agree there seems to be little to no drop off from FF to GT - maybe there shouldn't be much realistically, but it does make it so that most teams under most situations should be able to avoid any serious fatigue issues with a minimum of planning...

Perhaps I might have to try using some more getting tired then ... Tended to avoid it ...
