Do I Need to Pull Him Down? Topic

At my D2 school, a player shows up in my D1 search, but he responded to a phone call as follows:

Hi coach, how's it goin'? Listen, I've been talking to my parents about Shippensburg U. and they have some concerns about it. Can we set up a call with my folks sometime?

Do I need to go through the standard pulldown process, or can I recruit him straight forward?

Sometimes a player will be on BOTH your D1 and D2 lists. If he's not already on your D2 list, then I think you need to pull him down.  You can send just a phone call first if you want to make sure.

i'm not 100% certain about this so gather other opinions as well

I did send a phone call, and he responded with what I posted.

is the player within 70 miles? This response typically means they can be recruited with normal (HV/CV) effort.

I agree ... this is a message of someone who will accept CV/HV ... if he is Div-1 search for a Div-2 team then he is likely close (w/in 70 miles) ... or he has dropped down to all Div-2.
