The best laid schemes o' Mice an' Men,

So I cleverly moved up in the 4th round to take J Moon, who fit my team perfectly, because I was absolutely sure I'd get him at pick #82. (Thanks Ash!) Talk about having to rethink my pick, and quickly. I actually had it down to three guys when the pick came up and went with the cheapest option, never a bad idea, and move LeBron to the 2 spot where he can spank all the other 2's.

And I just can't resist asking...... How the hell did you all let me get Terry Porter in the 4th round?

Yeah- I'd take that 4 over Rodman/Malone every day.  Oh yeah- let's not forget tar has two picks in round 4 also.
I'm actually thrilled with the trade. I wanted kemp or T-Mac, but would have drafted alonzo and someone, who as of the start of the 4th round, is still undrafted.
It was Bob Lanier.

I like Terrell Brandon to go with Karl Malone. Brandon is very good ODL player in my mind because for one thing his extremely low turnovers and fouls per 48 minutes for a player with high usage is hard to find. His 81 defense is really good too for the 99th pick. Really looking forward to see who jhsukow can snag to pair up with Brandon in the backcourt.

Troy Murphy joining Ben's team is a real punch to the gut.

Pacific ends up
1. Ben
2. Ash
3. Jcred
4. McDarsh

Enjoy defending either Duncan or Ewing with Murphy!

With 4 other flexible defenders, he won't have too. I'm having good success with that in the 52.

Moon though has $'s in his eyes...

his defense isn't as good as you think it is.  Look again.  Boerwinkle is 90% at pf, Murphy is 90% at SF.  That means if he moves either of them to let Garnett defend Ewing or Duncan, he's losing a good chunk of the reason he drafted them in the first place (dreb%).  If he doesn't move either one, he has a 60-something and a 30-something defender guarding 60% of my offense that shoots 55% from the field.  Even if he does move one, Garnett is just one guy.  So, again, there's a 60-something still guarding Ewing.

Meanwhile, I have an 88+ on every one of his offensive players.

Gonna try and roll this out.  May have to use a cheaper Billups to afford a bench though.

Even though he could start them
1. Rondo
2. Dr. J
3. KG
4. Murphy
5. Boer

On the defense setting, Dr. J could could the 4 and Garnett the 5 then "hide" those two on your wings while Rondo stays with Payton.

Dr. J's defense would take a small hit, but it would be worth it.

You understand that moving Murphy to the 2 & Boer to the 3 will kill the entire reason you draft them, don't you?

edit:  adding this in in case you didn't know:  by having someone defend a position, that player is literally playing that position while on the defensive side of the ball, thus cutting their effectiveness by whatever percentage they are listed for that position.   Ex:  Boerwinkle is 80% at SF... so all of his stats (not just defense) are cut to 80% as effective.  Is it worth losing 6+ points of def. rebounding to guard my big men up front a little better?  Is doing that with two of his guys worth it?  I don't care either way - on one hand, I have a better chance of making the shot.  On the other hand, I have a better chance of getting the offensive rebound.

That's matchup drafting.

I like it.  Maybe a touch high usage.  Have you considered using a cheaper cp3 instead of cheaper Billups (if you have to use anyone cheaper at all)?
7/1/2014 4:47 PM
Thanks.  Yes, that is also on the table.  As is a cheaper cp3 AND cheaper Billups.  Need to wait and see who is still on the board when it gets to me.

Small sample size, but this is what Troy is doing for me in DH52 after 28 games with that defensive movement.

that's well and good but really tells me nothing... how is your team's rebounding vs your opponents?  And are you playing Murphy at the 2 or the 3 defensively?  Are you also playing another 30% rebounder at a position he's 80% effective at?  Like I said... I'll take the advantage on the boards if he decides to do this.  If he doesn't, I'll take the offensive advantage.  Six of one; half a dozen of the other.
