Also, I agree with strict penalties on those forced to use  scrub minutes. Too many times I've seen teams start 2-3 scrubs only to get the top pick in a loaded draft.

If you use scrubs more than Xminutes for the season, you should not be able to get a top 3 pick. That number could be around 1200 or 1600 minutes. Or anything else really, just saying, let's penalize it.

I've never once had to use scrubs in a progressive while others trot out starting lineups with Joe Graboski and Boag Johnson in order to get better picks.
I would quit if this ended up happening mid-way through the draft. Wouldn't have traded away my second round pick. This is a discussion that should've occurred before drafting started, there was plenty of time.
But I guess there's nothing to worry about since Mets has already ruled on it. No penalties for tanking teams, just the lottery, correct?

Agree, scrubs should not start under any circumstances and should be used only when minutes have been maxed out on the 1976-77 players. There should be minimal need for scrubs, if any. With 9 picks including a 587 minute player, I'm already at 19,400 minutes.

12900ish. I'm going to be using scrubs for heavy minutes. I read the rules before the draft began, the anti-tanking rule was the lottery from what I remember. That was a chance I was willing to take. If new rules are thrown in, I don't think it's fair for what I've done.
Look, my strategy after I traded up for Dantley was to build a team that could be a championship contender during his prime. Without a 3rd round pick, I decided to trade away my 2nd rounder and focus on role/platoon players that would be efficient during those seasons with my mid-round picks. So yeah, I need lottery picks to pull off what I planned. Take those away or penalizing me further and whats the point?

Once again, the time for people to discuss their disdain for tanking and rules to prevent it was before the draft.

With 100+ picks to go and around 70 played left, how do you figure we won't need scrubs....damn new math.

I agree with jt7king about the fact that it should have been discussed before the draft, that mets ruled on it already, and that tanking sucks--oh that one we don't agree on... ;-)
I look forward to running up my stats on you jt7king. Let's have a good one everybody.

Lol. I don't like tanking. The way things worked out, my team is going to be pretty bad for a few seasons.
Really, if you want to make the rules you must draft 19000 minutes (including scrubs) and you can't start scrubs, fine. I'll work around that and my team will still suck. So... what's the point?
