Excellent, dh!  Love to read perceptive evals.

Fourth round picks I particularly liked:
  • Sanders:  Basically a perfect fit.
  • Brent Barry:  Excellent running mate for Paul, especially Paul's higher FTA season.  Four sim studs on this team that complement each other well.  Could use a teammate who scores inside, though.
  • Paul Pressey:  Not the kind of guy I would think to pair with Frazier, but this quartet plays pretty clean, sports good D across the board (depending on which version of Bird is used) and doesn't need a lot of offensive balancing in the later rounds.  May be light on FTAs overall, but there's a lot here to like.
Fourth round picks I didn't like:
  • Wall + Sikma makes two key players who will touch the ball more than you want them to, taking touches away from more efficient shooters.  Gotta start paying attention to the advanced stats, man!
  • Whiteside:  Truly one of the supersubs in the sim now, but I didn't understand drafting so few minutes and passing up the opportunity
  • Korver:  I think he fits fairly well next to Stockton and I understand reaching for the 3s to balance out Gilmore's team, but I wouldn't be comfortable waiting so late to grab so much usage.  I get the high efg% strategy, but the team now sorely needs boards and buckets.
  • McGrady:  Hate to doubt sly, and McGrady's Big Season is fun to watch in this league, but do you really want Tracy taking shots away from a more efficient Mailman?
  • Drexler:  I would have liked him better on this team in the third round ahead of Harden.  As with the McGrady pick I fear he takes shots away from a more efficient Admiral.
  • Moncrief:  I love all four of the players on this team and have won titles with three of them in this league, but a) they all score their points in the paint, and b) that's a lot of fouls and turnovers in the frontcourt.  I think 98 is playing with us.  Or at least with me.
  • Love:  Brings a lot and I think it's possible to hide his poor defense, but I can't see how he and Stoudemire coexist to good effect.  They'll light up the scoreboard, and Love's presence helps offset the fact that Amare is a substandard rebounder for a big at this cap level, but they're gonna get lit up.
  • Harper:  Great value in the fourth, but one starting guard too many.

Kinda mystified by how most of the fifth round has gone so far.  Either I'm not keeping up with the evolution of winning strategies in the sim (which is highly probable), or I'm liking my chances of making the playoffs better and better.

Tottally fair. At the time, I saw Korver as s unique player and I just ignorantly thought one of Kobe/Tmac/Dirk would have still been around. I should have taken note when Amare was drafted a bit earlier then usual. The 52 can be a USG heavy league.

I know making the trade I did is very risky. Having said that, I don't know that I could be more pleased with how my first 4 picks have played out.

PG- Rondo
SG- Jordan
SF- LeBron
PF- Pau

You definitely are better off from the trade- I have been making all kinds of mistakes in my drafting process

That trade was risky no doubt. The rest of us made big mistakes that you benefited from. Then by being smart and knowing who the best players were at every draft spot you were in helped your team. Hopefully you will screw it all up in the next 3 picks but I doubt you will lol.

It's a great start, and I think you are the favorite to win, but there are just a lot of great seasons to come out of the last two NBA seasons as well as rediscovering old friends. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, DeAndre Jordan, John Wall...er....um...James Harden. Those seasons bump other players down, not just spots down the PG1 draft board, but have changed completely how people build their teams.

Not arguing against CJ having a great team, just saying that it's not because as a league we are making 20 boneheaded picks.

agreed, neither guy really fit my needs by the 4th round is all

Yeah I know I coulda waited til the 6th to take Barros, but A, I hate drafting a 6th man before my staters, and B, just on the off chance that someone screwed me, I didn't like the possibility of having to go with a scrub starting PG

Legit, Dana Barros was on my radar

true...barros does go in the 5th sometimes...might get drafted more now that a lot of teams double up on pgs

Drafting Whiteside in the 4th was not a mistake. Mcdyess was the player I needed at the 3 and there are still plenty of other guys that fit my other needs. Drafting Mcdyess or big man other than Whiteside in the 4th would have been wasteful, as I got Mcdyess later and still have plenty of targets that fit my current needs. There's no other selection in hindsight that would have made my team better than it currently is... Maybe I screwed up in the 3rd.. But not the 4th

I didn't say drafting Whiteside was a mistake - just not a move I would have made, but I tend to be conservative about drafting.  No question he's pretty unique and wouldn't have  been around for you in the next round.  And yeah, there are plenty of decent big men with more minutes slated to fall into the 6th.
