sorry leibo... this weekend one of my best friends got put in the hospital after a whole bunch of dumb work-related crap.  I'm not sure when or IF I'll be able to put time into this.  My draft has suffered greatly because of it.
No worries Ash, hope your friend is OK

Turns out she's okay.  Has pneumonia.  She couldn't breathe at work... started aspirating after she vomited... apparently inhaled vomit down into her already fluid-filling lungs.  Was pretty scary situation, and really f*cked up, as she literally just got back from Spain yesterday (hello, coming back from another country with an illness = scary!)... She calls in sick... then boss man makes her come in anyway, as he doesn't believe she's really sick.  She's in Atlanta at this point (3pm) and we go on air at 6.  Hour and a half drive for normal person (Chattanooga) - she's a slow driver - she gets to the station at 5.  Oh yeah, and while she was on vacation, we switched out our complete graphics/weather system (she's the f*cking weather lady btw... that's actually her nickname lol), so she had minimal training on it b4 Spain and was freaking out.  Then, of course, came the whole vomit-can't breathe thing.  Was really bad.  Boss is lucky she didn't have something more serious, or he'd be in some sh*t with human resources.  I know that was a mess to read, but hey.  Let's do some basketball now.

Wow that's messed up, my father-in-law came back from Russia with a serious illness (it was pneumonia too) but it was like enviro hazard area until we knew what he had.  I'm glad to hear she doing OK now.  Crap traveling internationally and coming to work the same day is tough enough.  Much less all of that

Okay, let's do this.  Thanks to Scud for his updates!

lhtgk
-  Wilt Chamberlain, Grant Hill, Jerry West,
I'm assuming you're using support Wilt here and not monster Wilt... if so, you've got assists wrapped up and I like that.  You need threes, which are reasonably easy to get (but hard to get with good defense) and more boards.  It'll work, but I really dislike Grant Hill in the current incarnation of the sim.

macphisto -  Charles Barkley, Jerry Lucas
Who else have you drafted?

tricky24 - LeBron James, Wes Unseld, Manu Ginobili,
I guess you're playing Lebron at his real position of the three.  Good start; need more boards & 3s, but you're set to not have to worry about a high ast% PG.

empdenied - Dennis Rodman, Mel Daniels, Steve Nash,
Rodman and Daniels are great.  Nash, not so much.  He's not a $52M pg.  At least not in the third round.  He's a fifth round (maybe) assuming you've got everything else shored up.

coachcroft -  Michael Jordan, Elton Brand, Tyson Chandler, Mike Lewis, Mark Price,
See, Price works here because you didn't sacrifice anything to get him.  You got kind of hosed with what happened, but Brand and Chandler will do you good.  Nice compliments to MJ.  I don't even know who mike lewis is.

shapandrew7 - Moses Malone, Deron Williams, Paul Pierce, Horace Grant,
This has all the makings of a power house.  Horace was a great compliment to a really, really mean trio.  Don't neglect boards when picking your last wing man and you'll dominate.

ncih -  Magic Johnson, Robert Parish, Ray Allen,
Magic I like.  Parish... I feel there were better options when you took him, but he's still a stud.  Allen... he's like Nash to me:  A dominant player in a $42M that's worth an early round pick there... but in $52M, I think you are better off getting something else and getting a suitable replacement much later.

banditone - Larry Bird, Walt Frazier, Spencer Haywood, Kevin Durant,
If 09-10 Durant was available, I'd proclaim this greatness.  As is... too early.  Still, I like the bird/frazier combo and Haywood is a nice 4 man.

garyman - Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Ben Wallace, Fat Lever, Mike Miller,
I love this team.  You need offense, boards and some threes from your wing, but with your backcourt's boards (and big ben), you don't have to get a big-time board guy and can concentrate on offense.  As I said, I love this team.

scudmissle - David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Mookie Blaylock, Kirk Hinrich,
Inside-outside is very nice.  I don't think you've got enough boards atm.  I dig everything else about the team, though.

uvasooner 2 - Chris Paul, Clyde Drexler, Buck Williams, Marquese Johnson,
Not the scariest team you've put together, but this is still very daunting.  I'm afraid of your center, whoever he is.

gtak  Dwyane Wade, Bill Walton, Willis Reed, Derek Harper,
I like the Wade-Harper backcourt.  I think you could have done better than Walton WHEN you picked Walton... and Reed just always feel so-so to me.  Still, this could be a formidable team.

xxevilivexx - Dwight Howard, Swen Nater, David Lee, Peja Stojakovic
At least you didn't take peja too early.  I still don't care for it, especially considering you already have 3 guys in the frontcourt.  I really think you would have liked your end results better had you went towards your backcourt instead of drafting peja.

98average -  Kevin Garnett, Scottie Pippen, Sidney Moncrief, Shawn Kemp,
This team should get dominated.  Weak boards, weak ftas, inefficient scoring (except for Kemp), very few threes... only good things I can say about it are that you already have assists taken care of without drafting a point (though moncrief can play point) and you don't have any defensive holes.

sappy -  Shaquille O'Neal, Dirk Nowitzki, Terry Porter, Larry Nance,
Love Shaq/Nowitzki pairing for offense.  I love what Porter and Nance bring to the table, too.  I just see a gigantic need for rebounding and can't figure out how you're going to get it.

captainzen - Bill Russell, Julius Erving, Kevin Johnson, Amare Stoudemire,
I have had bad experiences with Dr. J... of course, I've built pretty sorry teams around him.  KJ is one of my favorite sim players - just not in this cap.  Amare (assuming his defense doesn't get nerfed) is a great $52M guy or $42M guy.  Russell is still worth a 1st round pick IMO.  I don't feel good about where this team is going though.

dh555 - Artis Gilmore, Chauncey Billups, Anfernee Hardaway, Danny Granger,
Penny confused me.  A-Train, Billups, Granger... they have a nice synergy.  Penny doesn't mesh with that.  Still, you've got a lot of good going for you.  This team (should be) a very subtle FTA monster.

eleibowitz - Tracy McGrady, Bob McAdoo, Tom Boerwinkle, Donyell Marshall,
God I love how this team is shaping up.  I hated the McGrady pick, but you got a 1st round-worthy guy in McAdoo to make up for that.  Bowerwinkle gives you everything you needed out of your center, and Marshall is a slam dunk at the 3 with the Macs going nuts on offense.  You don't even have to invest in anything close to a true point guard with boer/tmac, though it wouldn't hurt.  More boards can't hurt but you're in much better shape than most of the teams in the draft at this point.

vancem - Oscar Robertson, Carlos Boozer, Brent Barry, Arvydas Sabonis,
I can't say anything bad about this at all.  This is exactly how a $52M should be built.  Looking forward to seeing how you flesh out the rotation.

uvasooner (1) - John Stockton, Kevin McHale, Kevin Willis, Bob Lanier,
I discovered last season that I absolutely detest Willis in a $52M league.  Not even Stockton could help him shoot worth a damn.  Good thing you've got McHale to help out there... Stockton/McHale will be impressive.  Lanier adds all the right rights and few of the wrong wrongs.  Willis still makes me go meh on this, but you're uva, and you typically blow my mind with the way you make your teams play.

katernberg- Karl Malone, Troy Murphy, Marcus Camby, Emeka Okafor,
Assuming Murphy doesn't get his nuts cut with the new patch, this is a great start.  You obviously believe you can get your backcourt later, so... good luck with that.  Your frontcourt is impressive and lacks nothing.

ashamael - Jason Kidd, Hakeem Olajuwon , Vince Carter, Antawn Jamison,
I abhor this team.  Kidd I've recently become high on.  I felt he allowed me to draft a lesser rebounding 4/5 (Olajuwon).  I've never been a fan of the dream (in this sim only - he was amazing IRL) because he doesn't do enough of the things I want my big man doing.  Vinsanity is a staple on my teams... I use a different version for $42M and for $52M... but I'm afraid the new patch will kill his defense and make him (at best) an inefficient volume shooter.  Jamison is another I love using (again, different version for different cap).  Both guys are low turnover.  Jamison gives me good boards from the 3, some decent threes, decent ftas and okay efg%.  The reason I hate this team is that I don't have a high high efg% guy to lean on.  I totally planned on picking up Tyson Chandler in round 3, but the whole CC/proxy skippage messed things up severely.  Chandler usually goes late 3rd/early 4th (sometimes even 5th) in these leagues.

felonius - Dikembe Mutombo, Kobe Bryant, Cedric Maxwell, Terrell Brandon,
I'm frightened by this team.  That PF is going to be ultra important.  Good thing for you that there are a ton of great ones left to fulfill the role you're looking for.

jweb1510 - Shawn Marion, Gary Payton, Anthony Mason, Nate Thurmond,
I don't dig Matrix + Glove in $52M any more than I did in $42M.  Both are excellent players, yet I think they double up on the things you don't want.  Mason, I dig.  Thurmond... I don't.  I see board woes and games lost for lack of a true efg% monster.

6/28/2010 9:57 PM
shap, gary, vancem, felonius and uva1 all are early favorites to me.  Lot of teams still have room to get real good, real fast.  Only a couple of teams do I see as hopeless.
6/28/2010 9:59 PM
how did coach get 7 players already?
6/29/2010 1:50 AM (edited)
b/c glen gave him compensation for missing his proxy. somewhat absurd, but i guess he deserved something...
6/29/2010 9:26 AM
I'm not worried about boards - Thurmond and Payton are above average for their positions, and Mason and Marion will get their fair shares. I really wanted Brent Barry as my eFG monster, but that didn't pan out. I've got absolutely no plan B, so I really don't have a clue what picks 5-7 will bring.
6/29/2010 3:42 PM
Peja was worth the fourth round selection because I hoped Dantley would drop. he was on my short list to play SG. Peja is going to start at the 3 and David Lee is a 3 position backup with boards
6/29/2010 3:46 PM
I cannot believe guys like Erick Dampier, Joel Przybilla, and Mark Landsberger have become hot commodities.  Next thing you know, we'll see the resurrection of guys like R**** A*****, K**** J****, and S*** J******.
6/29/2010 9:38 PM
Joel actually does quite well; 8 boards in about 22 mins isn't too shabby for a backup
6/29/2010 9:43 PM
or St*** f***ing K***!
6/29/2010 9:48 PM
I dont like that ash and I seem to be looking for the same kind of player and that he picks ahead of me - I need a little more usage than he does I think so we may diverge but he's lamenting both Landsberger and Dampier so well... at least katernberg doesnt need a PF - I think I kind of choked when I picked Kobe - there are only 2 or 3 SGs worth that high a second - not sure he's one - I'd much rather be waiting around on a guard pick right now and have stacked like Mutombo and Jerry Lucas or some such - I really puzzled that one out too, he was there

And thus the reason you should be worried about boards.
