banditone - Charles Barkley, Willis Reed, Julius Erving, Dale Ellis, Jameer Nelson
Ellis's selection tells me that Barkley & Erving are your forwards. You're going to have rebounding issues. You'll get some, but you'll end the season on a negative deficit, and that's a place that few championship teams end up. I like the offensive synergy from this squad, though, and I dig taking Nelson in the 5th.
ncih - Moses Malone, Donyell Marshall, Bob Lanier, Terrell Brandon, Derek Harper
I like everybody on this team. I'm just not sure how they'll work together. On paper, it seems like you've got everything you need. The Brandon/Harper thing is what's throwing me off, I guess. Still, there's no reason why it shouldn't excel. You could use more ftas. Very solid squad.
empdenied - Wilt Chamberlain, Glen Rice, Manu Ginobili, Red Robbins, Sleepy Floyd
You made the Wilt mistake. He can't get it done on boards alone - and Robbins, as good as he is, ain't going to help matters when you have Sleepy as your PG & Glen Friggin' Rice at SF. Ginobili gives you some boards at SG, but not enough to make up for Rice. This would have been a much more cohesive unit had you taken a SF that could rebound instead of either Rice or Ginobili (probably ginobili - wilt's expensive so Rice is a nice compliment).
tricky24 - Dennis Rodman, Kevin Durant, Zelmo Beaty, Harry Gallatin, Tim Hardaway
There's nothing glaringly wrong with this team, but I'm am just not feeling it. Hardaway is an overlooked PG in $42M, so I applaud that pick... Durant's a stud, but you can't use his 09-10 season (even if they released them). You've got good boards... The team seems to lack leadership. I know it's not a draftable stat, but when I look at a team, I can see an identity; see a guy that defines that team and what it's about and what it'll do. I don't see that with this team.
dh555 - Larry Bird, Robert Parish, Terry Porter, Brent Barry, Jerome Williams
I'm struggling to see where your other big offensive contributor is. Parish, I guess? Very nice efg% team... boards are solid if not top notch... lot of threes, lot of assists (which makes that efg% even better)... I just don't see Bird carrying the load with his lackluster ftas (for a guy with his usage). Still, this is a solid, solid group. I dig your backcourt a lot.
uvasooner - Magic Johnson, Swen Nater, Amare Stoudemire, Rashard Lewis, Michael Redd
Coley told me in a PM... "It's a crime for uva to be drafting so high." It really is. Redd is one of those WTF guys to me. His 2300 minute season is a god in $42M ones. Only the lack of ftas keeps it from being a 2nd rounder. Lowest tov% of any player that will be picked in this draft. Huge 3pap48. Good rebounding from the 2. Huge efg. And a perfect def rating. Combine that with Magic (boards, high ast%, some threes, tons of ftas), Lewis (threeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees, low tov%), Amare (high efg%, low tov%, high ftas) & Nater (someone has to rebound the ball) and you've got championship quality here. The good news is that he won't get who he really wants in round 6. The bad news is that there are 74 other guys out there that'll do a fine job as a replacement. This team is absurdly good and exactly how you build around Magic in this sim.
jakotay - Michael Jordan, Wes Unseld, Deron Williams, Connie Hawkins, Joel Przybilla
This team has it all: efg%, boards, ftas, threes (though it's a little shy there, the bench will fix this). Using the seasons he's using, Coley's got just under $5M to get a bench that he basically only needs to spend serious money on one position (backing up Prz/Unseld). Hot damn I love this squad.
xxevilivexx - Lebron James, Steve Nash, Hakeem Olajuwon, Cedric Ceballos, AC Green
This started out great and fizzled out. With Lebron in the team, I was looking for a SF that rebounded better than Ceballos. He does okay, and has a pretty good efg%, but I just wanted more out of that pick. It was still good, though. Green was where the coke went flat. You needed a board lord here. Green gets you some boards, but not enough. You've still got time in the sixth, however.
shapandrew7 - Dwyane Wade, Mel Daniels, Gary Payton, Andres Biedrins, Joe Johnson
I don't dig JJ, unless you're using that PHX season where he shoots 47% from 3pt land. And if you are, I don't dig it at the 3. But since you've got boards galore everywhere else, it works here. Bench is going to weigh heavy for me as to how I think this team will do. Right now, it's on the edge of amazing or average.
robocoach - David Robinson, Peja Stojakovic, Elton Brand, Fat Lever, Steve Francis
I... uh... Let's get to the good part: Fat was the exact guy you needed at PG. He helps make up for the lack of boards you're getting from your frontcourt. He was exactly the right guy. Francis helps because you wanted a SG with good ast%. He also gets boards. That being said, I'm not sure it'll be enough. A lot depends on the admiral here. This team will live or die by the particular season you use of him & Brand.
sappy - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Ben Wallace, David Lee, Jason Richardson, Jose Calderon
The only thing keeping me from saying "this is the perfect $42M squad" is the lack of ftas. Otherwise - holy sh!t this is top-notch.
scudmissle - Shaquille O'Neal, John Stockton, Antawn Jamison, Bill Walton, Dennis Scott
already went into great detail about this squad above. Grab the right guys in the sixth and you're on your way to another ring. And play up-tempo. Don't be fooled into thinking half-court is a good idea. The only time half-court is a good idea is if your opponent is obviously better than you, and then slow-down is probably a better idea. Give them as few possessions as possible to blow you out in, and you just might pull one over with sim randomness. This team shouldn't need to do that versus anyone.
eleibowitz - Chris Paul, Tim Duncan, Walt Frazier, Jayson Williams, Mark Landsberger
You answered my primary complaint. I need to know who your SF is.
tarheel1991 - Karl Malone, Ray Allen, Darrell Walker, Erick Dampier, Olden Polynice
When you took damp in round 4 I could have spit nails. He's such a good player in the sim (the top season, anyway - and the other lower minute ones aren't bad, either). Polynice makes a nice rotation with him. Walker gives more boards. Mailman is the mailman, and Jesus is Jesus, so you're well on your way to another top-notch squad.
longtallbrad - Oscar Robertson, Dikembe mutombo, Reggie Miller, Al Jefferson, Hedo Turkoglu
I don't know why, but I'm just not an Al Jefferson fan in this sim. I know why in this case however. You already have guys you want the ball in their hands: Oscar & Reggie. I liked the Turk pick... so now you've got Jefferson in the mix three guys you'd rather have dominating the ball. I know it's hard to do, but sometimes you've got to draft complete and utter trash and forget that they were #9 or #10 in a 9 or 10 man rotation.
badja - Tracy McGrady, Dana Barros, Kevin Willis, Buck Williams, Larry Nance
Nance & Buck make up for my Willis disdain. I already expressed my sim-boner for the backcourt. You're got a highly efficient, high efg% team (with the exception of willis). You'll stay in most games' board competition, too, even if you don't dominate them. I like it.
ashamael - Dwight Howard, Troy Murphy, Kevin Johnson, Danny Granger, Tyson Chandler
Quit drafting the same team over and over, you worthless bastard.
gtak - Shawn Marion, Paul Pierce, Brad Daugherty, Penny Hardaway, Clifford Ray
Daugherty was a nice compliment to Pierce/Matrix, and when you got Ray, you got exactly what you needed (more boards). Penny's a stud. I dig the Penny/Pierce backcourt a lot. You could use more boards (since Ray's got low minutes), but all-in-all I really like this squad.
lhtgk - Jason Kidd, Kobe Bryant, Shawn Kemp, John Drew, Marcus Camby
afk a sec while I figure out why you drafted John Drew. Okay, got it. Good rebounding 3-man. I don't like his efficiency, though, and his high usage means that you'll have to suffer through it. Good thing you have Kobe to trump him. Hmmm. You have a lot of boards here. A lot. I see you winning many, many games just because there'll be few where you get out rebounded. Kobe wins 20+ by himself. My verdict is still out, but yeah, good things could be on the horizon. Could be.
captainzen - Chauncey Billups, Kevin McHale, Tom Bowerwinkle, Calvin Natt, Mike Miller
I got down when you took Natt (I really wanted to see McHale at SF on this squad), but perked right back up when you got Miller. Chauncey/Miller is almost as good a backcourt as you can get in $42M setting. Boerwinkle makes it even better. McHale (as a SF) is perfect for this team. I just am looking for a 35%+ creb% guy at PF who doesn't take away shots from Billups/McHale. Natt's a good player, he's just not who I want to see there. Still a damn good squad, though.
