90-91 EBKL Keepers Topic

OK, other than creigel and I setting horrible examples by not posting kepers yet, and logain and colonels dropping-out, we await lists from steev, TheROB30, and jonstephens25.  Site-mail sent to them asking to please post before the weekend.  Available teams posted.  Hopefully we get new owners quickly, since not much else going on these days.

Let's all welcome cryrisnyte.

On another note, if anybody knows how to change Forum Thread headers in these new Forums, would you please let me know, so I can change the Theme League thread header to show we only need 1 owner.

Finally, tonight's 025 gets sjstapleton pick # 3.

That makes the 1st twelve picks: MVG99, steev, sjstapleton, sappy, cdew8, JGreene, cjok1051, cea8010, robusk, shaggyno9, cyrisnyte, and wetz64.

That's awesome, I drop for the 5th straight year in the lottery.

I think I've mentioned this before but can we discuss changing the lottery process? (And not just because it habitually rapes me). The lottery works somewhat IRL because we don't know how each player is going to turn out but here in WIS land, we do. We all know exactly what every year of every player looks like so getting a great player and building a team depends so much more on lucking out in the lottery. There are no surprises, good or bad.

My suggestion would be to group the twelve non-playoff teams in four groups of three (or vice-versa). Then do a random drawing within each group. This way teams 22-24 are guaranteed spots one through three, 19-21 get spots four through six, etc.

I dunno, the current system seems to lead to random dynasties being built though lucking out in the lottery much more than drafting pieces that fit together well, making good trades, etc.

Any thoughts?

I agree with cdew's comments-I'd suggest 1-4 be grouped (groped?) , and 5-8, then starting with the 9th worst team, just draft in reverse order

1) I have no problem with this suggestion, but need a majority to back it, and that just hasn't ever happened.

2) calcutta has taken ownership of colonels old team.  Let's welcome him.

I'd be okay with trying cdew's suggestion next offseason and then determining whether to keep doing it.

I actually think a weighted lottery system is even more important with this sim league than in real life precisely because we know how a given player can be expected to perform.  I don't mind experimenting with slightly less randomness in the lottery so that a bad record is a better guarantee of getting a good player, but really, tanking a season should come with the risk that owners may not get the player (or caliber of player) they are hoping for.

Yeah, I would worry about increased tanking.

I hear you on the tanking but we could easily put in a couple anti tanking measures. We also seem to have a pretty good group here that monitors each other and generally doesn't tank.

There's no real perfect solution but there is just so much luck involved in creating a great team that it bothers me.

7th pick in the draft is on the block, along with other players of the Okc Cyclone.  hit me up.

If you want to trade big for small, let me know.  I have a load of SG/SFs.

Luck is right, but part of what appeals to me about these progressive leagues is the way in which they mirrors RL better than other kinds of WISNBA adventures.  And as in RL, it sucks when you're the owner that gets screwed.

But again, I'm okay to try the proposal once and see what happens.
