ncih......Isn't this going to run right into BOWIS
Possibly, but one league can't wait on another.

Both just have to keep moving forward.

Is there a rush or something?  We have 3 rounds of playoffs left. Likely In.

only someone w/ a 1st round bye would say this, lol.

I'll probably be back, too

Hey ncih is it possible for the returning owners to have a drafting position preference for next season? I would rather draft early or late but seem to mostly get stuck in the middle after 4 or 5 owners drop out and the newbies get to take the bottom picks in the first round and the top picks in the second round. Additionally, it doesn't appear to be fair to me that a returning player such as ash, who dropped out in the middle of the draft this current season with no notice at all, gets to take a choice spot at the end of the first round. I just think that it would be better for the returning owners to get some love for being loyal by allowing us state a preference on where we would like to draft and then place the newbies in the undesired slots. Any thoughts?

Think this is a very good suggestion, new owners should be taking the middle draft choices.

regarding the bolded part of vancem's message:  I had a draft slot I was prepared for.  A couple of days go by and suddenly I'm in a different draft slot.  It is at the absolute most inconvenient time for me (first draft pick of the day, 8am time slot) and I'm drafting between two guys who are notorious for drafting late.  With no notice at all, my entire draft plan changed and I had a sitemail that said I was up.  So yeah, **** you if you think I'm going to stay in that.  Plus the new salaries had just come out and I seriously thought I was leaving the site.  Well, I have about 15 free teams to burn, so I might as well get back in this.

But I agree wholeheartedly with the draft pick selection idea.  In fact, I suggested it seasons ago, but Glen wanted to stick with the original funk52 setup.

Also, you can offer to trade slots.  I've been known to do this before.

But if it's a problem, hey, I'll drop again.  Up to you.

I think it should stay with the original format.  Why punish owners that are willing to pay their money to come into a league anew and then tell them go **** themselves with the absolute worst draft position?  I would have loved to have played this league over the last couple of years since I used to play this.  Giving current owners preferential treatment will not woo future owners to this league when people inevitably drop out.  No one wants to draft in the middle, but don't try to stack the deck against other owners.

Middle draft choices aren't necessarily bad - it all depends on who you draft. It's tough but I clearly remember when qistat destroyed everyone when he drafted 12th in one of the draft leagues (odl or kfunk52). He probably did it more than once, too.

I vote keep it the same and I'm not just saying that cuz of my record this past season. As ash said, people can always trade slots or individual rounds.

For what it's worth, most of my ships in draft leagues have come with draft picks from 13 through 17.  I had 10 once (odl) and 22 once (this league), but the rest were middle draft picks.

The ends are nice, but so is the middle.  People severely underestimate how good those picks, especially when the talent pool starts to dip.  I do think the latter end of the higher cap leagues is better, though, simply because of the sixth round (drafting two).  Thus my suggestion before of owner preference draft position.  It's like - I won with the 22nd slot!  Two owners drop and look!  I'm drafting in the 22nd spot again!!  But it's the way it has always been, and I'm not sure how many repeat champs this league has had.  UVA maybe?  He's had 2 of the last 3, but they were split.

Anyway, long as there is ample warning of changed draft slots (read:  more than 24 hours) while on the clock, I don't see a problem with it either way.

We will not be switching to the drafting of draft positions.

Uva has probably left the site (at least for awhile) so we still need at least three owners.

That's cool I'm still in. I apologize to ash for calling him out inappropriately and without the facts. Too bad that uva is leaving for a while cuz I'd love another chance to try tp beat him!
