you shouldn't have to hope, evil... 6 picks in three days is shameful. how in the world did this get so out of control?

DISREGARD SCHEDULE BELOW IF WE DO NOT FINISH THE FIRST ROUND TOMORROW.

no skips on weekends (sheesh)

funk never did this. since when do we cater to the lame?  you have an owner who wants to join. you probably have a wait list where another might join. there might be owners who would take a 2nd team as well. but by delaying a whole round, you encourage this type of non-responsive behavior from others. i played in many funk52's, and we never had a whole day's worth of time monopolized by an owner or two.

He took a ton of money from the Raptors and gave little in exchange for it.  (Not a rare sin in professional sports these days, unfortunately.)

You got that right about it not being rare----but you have to admit, its probably more Toronto stupidity than Hakeem greed...he was 38 for crying out loud when he was traded....for them to expect a whole lot more out of him was pretty dumb...his last 4 years in Houston he never played more than 50 games and Toronto gives up multiple draft picks(including a mid first rounder for him) to get him....shows you how desperate teams can be to acquire a big man

I live in toronto and I think that in the instance of Hakeem, it was far more of a cash grab for the team..bringing Hakeem in was supposed to inspire 'hope' amongst fans that were foolish enough to think that a guy with bad knees could become our Robert Parish and that failed miserably in the end..such a bad fit.

Out of curiosity....if the Maple Leafs are a 100 out of 100 in terms of city/fan interest(which I am sure they are...city lives and dies I'd assume with the hockey team), where do the Raptors fall?   Blue Jays? (now, not in early 90s)

I am not a leafs fan. I was for a small period and you'd be surprised how many people were fans as 12-15 year olds and then realized how mis+managed the team is..it is owned by the teachers pension plan..it is a total cash grab and no owner cares about winning..as for the raptors, they are a lost cause because nobody stays unless it is a cash grab. you can note Hakeem in terms of cash grabs and T-Mac etc. as guys who ran once they could. The Blue Jays have the best managed team in Toronto, but the sad part is they can't compete with teams that have payrolls 4 and sometimes 5 times the size of theirs. The American League east is a deadly division.
