in my 20 team league - we have a 1K option to carryover your entire team - otherwise it is just 2 keepers and maybe a rookie 3rd carryover which replaces your 1st round pick

is this team worth a 1K carryover

i play a full house - 3 RB, 2 TE

QB - Matt Cassel, Matthew Stafford
RB - Jamaal Charles, LeSean McCoy, Darren McFadden, Jahvid Best, Kevin Smith, Willis McGahee
WR - Jeremy Maclin (would trade for a TE)
TE - Antonio Gates, John Carlson, Dustin Keller
K - Mason Crosby, Josh Brown
DF - New England

normal entry fee, plus moves is around 225

basically have to finish top 3 to get money back (1K)
I'd say no - too risky for that investment. But it's close.

How often do people use the 1K option?

i would say every other year - a few years back, the guy that did it finished 18th - most of the others always get their money back

The thing I don't like is how many question marks you'd be starting behind Gates, even given that it's a 20-team league. You don't have a reliable QB, no established #1 RB...

On the other hand, you've clearly been hoarding some youth, and if you don't keep 'em all, what was the point?

Don't see how it could be more than two assumptions.  It's really like an evaluation, two judgments and a cliche.
