5 open roster spots, roughly 10.5 million to fill them with. This could be fun.
You once filled 5 schollys in HD for less than $1000, if I recall.
Don't think that was me...

And I just found a guy in AAA who will fit one of the roles I was looking to sign nicely, so it's more like 4 for 10 now - and looking back at what I paid for the kind of guys I'm looking for last season, I'm not as concerned - I forget sometimes how some quickly some of these demands drop at the end.

I actually really like the whole Werth/Oswalt scenario, so I'm sure it probably isn't real.

Agreed.

Jimmy Johnson is going to be on the next season of Survivor.

My brain hurts.
You deserve discomfort for knowing who is on Survivor.
It was on the Dallas Morning News' Cowboys page. It was unavoidable.
Yes, because everyone knows you cant throw a dead cat without hitting the Dalls morning News's Cowboy page.

I have a feeling they're gonna get Sheets, and not trade Werth.

See, now that's a scenario I pretty much hate. Sheets isn't going to be a deciding factor for this year, and Werth walks for nothing.

I think the deal Werth, get Oswalt scenario is almost the perfect move given the current realities.

I don't know.  The Lee deal has me questioning whether dealing Werth will be much, if any, better than getting the comp picks.

I'm assuming they wouldn't make an Oswalt deal with getting something for Werth, whether they actually send those prospects to the Astros or not.

If you can basically turn 2 months of Werth into 2 months and another season of Oswalt, at this point, I think you do it without batting an eye. Again, however, I doubt that any of this is actually real.

Yeah, I think RAJ is trying to get someone to panic and overbid for Werth.

Well, the Dundies may have flaws this season, but I think it's safe to say that for the first time in a long time, mediocre starting pitching (behind Dave Newhan) won't be one of them.

I'm cool with Black, Friend, Roth, Purcell, Rowand (not in that order, necessarily), but it's not quite as strong as I was hoping for coming into this FA period.

My lineup, on the other hand, I think I'll be pretty much in love with, but that's not really anything new.
7/21/2010 2:51 PM
Lee and Roosevelt might both be better than any non-Newhan SP I've ever had. Lee definitely is, and Pedro Estrada in his prime is probably the only one who might rival Roosevelt. I was hoping to have a little more cash for a FA upgrade at #4 or #5, but I'm fine with the current options. And I really like the back-end of the bullpen.

Lineup will basically be the same as last year, and I thought we underperformed in terms of runs scored last year relative to how well we hit.

yay

I think the fans of the Steamers are going to be rather apathetic about my free agent signings.
