Shtickless - Unless Being Dead Is A Shtick Topic

Well, the powers that be have been known to set pretty arbitrary caps they make the GM stick with.  It may well be he's just not "allowed" to commit that much more money to 2012 at this point.  I can't imagine it's Amaro that's balking.

Did that **** you off Cheez?
Not really - I was highly amused at you thinking TM was asking about your trade discussions.

I got super lucky in the Fielding coach department.  After someone outbid me on Garrido, I had no money left other than what I had offered him.  Took a shot at Trammell assuming I wouldn't be in the hunt, but managed to get him.

Seems unlikely urdanick deals Payne to moy given all the money he spent to compete this year.
He already put the deal on the table.... I just have to accept. I'm waiting on fregoes MIA *** to see what it will take to get Thomas instead.

The stretch run of FA is going to be very interesting.

Phillies balking at picking up Oswalt's 2012 option to get him to approve the trade - seems odd to me that that year would be the sticking point...

I gotta assume that's just some kind of negotiating ploy, if true.

If they're really worried about it, that doesn't exactly bode well for the Phillies keeping the band together in the offseason. Have to think some major payroll pruning is coming in that case.
That's what doesn't make any sense - 2011 was already known to be booked solid - they just committed large chunks to it this past offseason, and the only thing that's "changed" since then financially is they've sold out every game all year.  I fully expected the 16 million next year to be an issue, but I'm surprised that keeping him to 2012 would be a hold-up.

The FA market really limited trading so far.
I think I've made three...

5 open roster spots, roughly 10.5 million to fill them with. This could be fun.
You once filled 5 schollys in HD for less than $1000, if I recall.
Don't think that was me...

And I just found a guy in AAA who will fit one of the roles I was looking to sign nicely, so it's more like 4 for 10 now - and looking back at what I paid for the kind of guys I'm looking for last season, I'm not as concerned - I forget sometimes how some quickly some of these demands drop at the end.
Yep. it was you. I believe it was among your first forays in Shtickless, and urd, ace, and Nellie  may have helped you get some $120 guys, and a few others to fill out your roster.

VD was my recruiting mentor - he taught me his cheap, 2nd/3rd day recruiting methods, but they wouldn't have been conducive to getting 5 guys for under $1000.  Whatever, doesn't really matter.

yeah my HD methods were good for getting guys without battles but not for that cheap

as far as my $ roster, the trade i made really set me for this season even losing wiki, i'd still like to upgrade at least one of my two mediocre MIF backups, and i'll likely add at least one more pitcher in FA, whether it be a top target or not. plus i have 2/3 AAA pitchers to bring up as needed.

the problem, as always, is this is an above average but not great team
