heh, got outbid on knotts this last cycle, that wasnt ideal after having had the lead.

my FA period was really about trading for nieves, and thankfully didnt do anything to harm the future with overpriced contracts. just need to get creative with the extra money this season now...

It shouldn't make you feel THAT much better, though it is idiotic.

Absolutely comical given the large number of much better pitchers who signed for significantly less.

if i could go back and change anything from my plan it wouldve been offering more to Lopez earlier, i just didnt have a sense of how much money was truly available toward FAs

makes me feel much better about elcano's contract.
Yeah, I was pretty shocked at what Benny got, but then I saw patrickm's max deal and my jaw hit the floor.

I seriously can't believe that contract. I mean, moy's contract for Elcano is insane for someone he might get 100 innings out of, but at the very least, Elcano is a front-line reliever. Guerrero is a mid-rotation guy at best.

I am glad I sat this one out.

There were all kinds of front-end talents that signed early and at very nice prices - there was just this last handful of guys that were actually battled over that got insane.

Yeah...  but considering moy doesn't have the slightest ideal how to maximize his player's output, that contract is twice as bad as it would have been on someone else's team.

Oh, don't get me wrong - moy's an idiot.

Unfortunately, Elcano, like Keller will see like 1/3 of the IP he would have on a properly run team.
7/22/2010 3:38 PM
Idiot or not, it makes more sense to spend 2x value on a great player than 3x value on a mid-level player.

he'll get 100 innings - he will be setup A. He'll be doing what Orber is in HR.
