The +/- places direct notation on the number of positive or negative defensive plays someone makes. A SS can get charged for an error when your 1B with no range can't make the stretch to get a throw. And the fact is that errors are much more random than + or - plays.Isn't +/- a judgement call to? What makes an average player? Even if the 1b gets the error and it was really the ss fault its still one team error. My question was how do you rank team defense in the standing. +/- seems like more of an individual stat than a team stat just like in hockey.1. It isn't a judgment call because the simulation is specially telling you who is making an exceptionally bad or good play. An average player is to HBD as you are to posting in Shtickless. Gin gets a + for his posts. Alcheez gets -. 2. The 1B never gets the error unless they mishandle the ball, and even then it's sometimes attributed to the throw. If your SS makes an acrobatic play and can get the ball towards first base in time, but your DH masquerading at 1B can't extend to get it, that error goes to your SS. 3. It can be considered a team stat when you see the cumulative good and bad plays that a team makes. A good defense makes a lot of plays that would otherwise be hits.
