Im pretty sure Lee's career year was in Cleveland when he won the Cy Young. It was just on a completely irrelevant team. Unless you define a career year on playoffs and World Series and stuff.
It was his career year to date, but have you looked at what he's doing this year?
It is pretty sick, but the year is not over. The complete games is the most amazing part of what he's doing.
He was 22-3 on that crappy Cleveland team. His era is a bit better this year. But he is only 9-4. The record isnt his fault--He is pitching comparably to how he did in Cleveland when he won the Cy Young.
He's actually pitching much better this year, it's just not showing up in the record, due to pitiful offense around him and having missed his first several starts with injury.
He's holding batters to a .222 average (was more in the .250 range in '08) and again, has 7 walks in 139 innings. He has a WHIP right at .90, which is just ridiculous for a starter.
You're right, the year isn't over, but at this moment, he's absolutely having his career year.
