What do you usually discuss with them?

normally they just talk....   if I do talk I normally ask them what they would need to get out of the situation they are in....   or ask how they ended up there.   not something I normally talk to people about because they think its crazy and I dont do it for recognizition....   but I TM called me out so I had to defend myself

recently I talked to guy who lost all his money in the stock market and during the good times he felt like he ****** off all his friends and family and was now embaressed to ask for help.

you see a homless person sitting on the street.....  you walk up and say..  hey do you mind if I buy you lunch.   half the time they say no.  but if they say yes you walk to a subway or fast food joint and buy them lunch.   pretty simple and safe.

I do my friend,  I volunteer at a soup kitchen twice a month, volunteer coach for harlem RBI, and take one to two homeless people to lunch every month.  I do my part for the community I live.
