nobody is "making" you vote for any particular party Jim.
I know but I always vote against Republicans especially for a Senate seat.
Glad to see you are so openminded . . . . . . . . . .. .  .

I like that jim doesn't say he always votes Dem, but that he always votes against the Pub.

Bloomberg/Houseman 2012!

lol. Thinking back on presidential elections I've voted in (starting in 1980):
Anderson (I)
Mondale (D)
Dukakis (D)
Perot (I)
Clinton (D)
Nader (G)
Nader (G)
Nader (G)

See, there's open-mindedness there.

They (the ads) haven't been too vicious in IL. Only 2 real races, kirk and alexis, Brady and Quinn. Both have been cordial with the exception of pointing out alexis Broadway bank mob connections.... which is true btw. I'm with Anton though.... the ads will mostly be "witchy" on both sides. That's sad that that seems to be the only way to get voters riled up enough to get off the coach and go vote.
Actually, the polls so far show that both parties' bases are already more riled up than usual for a midterm - the Dems moderately so, and the Pubs' numbers are through the roof.
I realize I pulled a swamp here and didn't actually offer any proof to back up my statement about party enthusiasm, and just declared a thing to be true. From Gallup:

Doesnt this show a normal Democratic and a big Republican?

No argument there - it does seem like such a shame, that in most political races (like the governor's debate I watched here in Ohio last night) that we have been reduced to picking "which one do I think will not screw up as much as the other one".

Although I was joking (at least about the date), I do think a Bloomberg run would generate serious heat and be a real threat.

The problem with presidential campaigns like that though (same thing would have applied to Perot) is that if Bloomberg won, he would have zero Congressional support. Without anyone in the House or Senate to enact his policies via legislation, it's hard to see how much he'd actually be able to accomplish.

Maybe it would be a good thing if the government did not accomplish much for a couple of years??
10/8/2010 4:53 PM
We're probably about to find out, assuming the Pubs take the House.
