I look forward to starting a series with you, thought it may take a few seasons of games @ Georgetown before a game in College Park is an auto win for the Terps.

I also look forward to the days when I'll have the prestige to challenge for the best of local recruits.
We're starting up a yearly home-and-home with Georgetown, on the 10th slot of non-conference play.  They will be owned by us for a while, but it's a decent baseline prestige school, so it could become a challenge after a bit.  I hope, of course, that we will continue to dominate the local recruiting scene.

Now, I will post my new recruits.  I could've done this last night at 8 PM but there wasn't any rush.

#1 SG, #2 Overall, *****; no promises.  Harmon doesn't have quite the potential I would've liked (high on speed...heh; average on athleticism, high on ballhandling and passing to go with the perimeter, and definitely high on stamina), but he's already a pretty decent SG/SF hybrid player.  We need him at the SG spot so that's where he'll play for at least two years.  The NBA is certainly a possibility, but unfortunately he isn't quite as awesome as his hype.

Also, as a Baltimore resident, I find it hilarious that he starred for the Talmudical Academy.

International therefore unranked; no promises.  I'll post Morales' potential when it comes in after the first preseason game.  From his evaluations, it seemed to me that it was mostly average.  Anyways, Morales seems pretty similar to Harmon.  We'll see how he turns out.  Hopefully he has high potential in speed and perimeter (and other stuff).

#5 PF, #14 Overall, *****; no promises.  Jennings is a good, dynamic PF with a lot to offer.  I don't mind that his shot blocking potential is low, considering all of the other areas he can improve.  I think he'll be a star for us and leave for the NBA at some point, possibly early.

#9 C, #35 Overall, *****; no promises.  Henderson is my least favorite recruit for the year, simply due to his speed.  With that said, he should be fine in the C spot and is a likely 4 year player, which isn't bad at all considering he's a five-star guy.  He doesn't have any areas of real weakness other than the speed thing, though his FT% won't be great.

#11 C, #39 Overall, *****; no promises.  The only player we had any kind of battle for, we beat St. John's in a minor border spat for the services of Richard Latch.  He was my favorite center this year, but his stamina will limit him in terms of PT to some degree.  Otherwise he's rock solid in his position skills.

Richard Harmon went to the Talmudical Academy?  I thought that Michael Suggs going to Anacostia HS in DC was a little odd, but that takes the cake.

In summary, we pulled in five 5-star recruits with minimal challenges from neighboring schools.  This was, granted, a little boring, but it also sets us up with a lot of extra money for next season, in case we do get into a battle with someone.  The reasons that this unfolded this way...

Virginia (6 openings) has a C+ prestige.  Their biggest battle is with Rutgers (B prestige, 3 openings) for a 2-star NYC recruit. 1-2 openings next season.
Georgetown (2 openings) has a B prestige.  They signed a 3-star Delaware PG and a 2-star Washington DC Center. 4 openings next season.
West Virginia (3 openings), B-minus prestige.  They signed a no-star, barely ranked PG in-state, a 4-star Pennsylvania SF, and a 3-star MD SF.  4 next season.
Syracuse...wisefella is deliberately destroying the program by recruiting bottom of the barrel players, really scorched earth stuff for their next coach.
Villanova, with a C prestige, is a non-issue for me.
Pittsburgh was a little dangerous, with an A prestige and had 3 openings, but they opted to look to New York and Ohio for their recruits. (3-star, 4-star, no star)
Virginia Tech (B+ prestige) kept his expectations low for 4 recruits, saving money for next year, bringing in a no-star, a 1-star, a 2-star, and a 3-star.
Penn State (B-minus prestige) signed a four-star Maryland guy for one of his two openings.  Eugene Spada was a backup option for me, though.  Their other recruit was a no-star center.

St. John's was the real threat this year, with 7 openings and an A+ prestige.  We had one battle with them but they didn't stick with it because they didn't want to get overextended, per a comment in the Big East Coaches' Corner after recruiting ended.  We avoided a player that they signed, Harold Pylant, because he was firmly in their territory and we didn't want to get overextended.  I think that worked out for both of us, without any communication between the two of us.  I wouldn't be surprised if we both have top-5 recruiting classes.

I chose not to pursue a very tempting PG from NC, who was signed by UNC (and I think they battled for him with Duke).

No question that this was an A+ class for Maryland.  Five 5-star recruits is unprecedented for any of my teams.  I'm thinking we'll probably be attempting to drive Walter Murphy to transfer, because our frontcourt is loaded and he wouldn't have a real chance to contribute at SF for at least two years if nobody leaves early.

Next year, with 3 definite openings (though there may be one or more early entries), we are going to need two guards again.  We'll probably want a small forward, as well, since we'll have a senior and a junior there.

Well, well, well - guess who's recruiting class was just ranked #2 by CollegiateInsider.com? Nice job! Everybody in the Athletic Department is really excited - I think I'm even getting the administration behind what you're doing. Keep up the good work!

I currently live in the Hamilton-Lauraville area (Northeast Baltimore, just South of Parkville and Overlea)...bascially a 5-minute drive from the county line.  Martin O'Malley (to anyone reading this who isn't from the area, he's the ex-mayor of Baltimore and current governor of Maryland) lived in this neighborhood before moving to the governor's mansion.  Supposedly the attention paid by the city services to it since he left has gone down quite a bit, but I haven't been around long enough to know the difference.

Western Michigan has been a power in the MAC for the past 4 seasons, but they lost their coach to Georgia, so this game will probably be a negative on my RPI when it was scheduled to be a positive.  This is the inherent risk of scheduling mid-major programs that dominate their conferences.  I still think it is the best way to make a schedule for an elite team.

Northern Arizona dominates the Big Sky, and has kept their coach.  I'm confident that this will look like a nice win by the end of the year, regardless of the margin of victory.  It looks like Walter Murphy got some PT due to Sean Russell's foul trouble.

Obviously this was a blowout.  I sound like a broken record but history shows that Canisius will do well in conference play and this will be a good win for my RPI.

Whyte is having a really nice season so far.  Our assist-to-turnover ratio is 20:14, the best I've seen in my time in HD.  His is 5.8:1.8 is excellent, along with 11.5 points on 56% shooting (54.5% from 3), and 3.8 rebounds.  If this continues we will win the NC.

I forgot to mention that Nebraska signed Ahmed - not because they especially needed him, but because their prior coach had recruited him 2 seasons ago, and that effort carried over.  Gonzaga really wanted him, as did Louisville, but couldn't get on his considering list.
