We need 1 owner for the 2nd season of a Diamond Legends Career Progressive League.

In the Diamond Legends (or Career) WIS leagues, players use their average career statistics. In this specific league, that will mean using their average career statistics in a progressive from their first year of eligibility starting in 1961 through their last year of WIS eligibility. In this league, Hank Aaron (whose rookie season of WIS eligibility was 1954) will be eligible every season from 1961-1976-no IR seasons !! His statistics for every eligible season will be his average WIS career statistics.

Due to a shortage of IP in 1961, every team was permitted to draft one 1941 star pitcher. Those pitchers will continue to be available for the number of years shown in the table below.

The league will be 16 teams, Alternate WIS format B (4 teams make playoffs) No DH,No WW, No AAA, No injuries. Salary Cap $80 million. We will use the 16 of the 20 major league team names in use in 1962. Added for the 1962 season will be the Houston Colt 45's and New York Mets. The 3 new owners (on a first-come , first served basis), will have the option of retaining their existing team names or using the Houston or New York Mets franchises or the 2 unused franchises, the Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins. The Houston owner will have the option in 1965 of retaining the Colt 45's name or changing to the Astros.

After the initial season, subsequent drafts will be in inverse order of finish except that for the first round only there will be a random weighted lottery among the 4 teams with the worst record (4 chances for the team with the worst record, 3 chance for 2nd worst etc.). The tiebreaker will be run differential (runs scored less runs allowed) with the team with the worst run differential drafting higher.

Career statistics for the 3 available teams will be posted below.

Interested owners will be given access to the league's private forum. We are currently in the process of posting keepers for the 1962 season. As of now, there are 20 games (about a week) left in the initial 1961 season.

Unfortunately the original owner of the Phillies did not thoroughly understand the nature of a career league and made some drafting errors. The team will have a high draft choice in Round 1 (see the weighted lottery above-the Phillies have a 40% chance of the #1 pick) and be drafting first in all other rounds so should be able to improve the team significantly.

Never played a Diamond League, but will give the Phillies a go if the #1 pick is confirmed. Let me know.
For the first round only there is a four team weighted lottery with the team with the worst record having four chances, the 2nd worst 3 chances and so on.

The Phillies will definitely have the worst record and so have a 40% chance of the # 1 pick. A sample lottery from another league is shown below:

There were 10 items in your list. Here they are in random order:

In that particular case the team with the worst record did get the #1 pick but the team with the 3rd worst record got the #2 pick, and obviously the team with the worst record does not always get the #1 pick.

The worst case would be you would get the #4 pick (I have yet to see that happen) and the Phillies would have the first pick in all other rounds.

Please let me know if you want the team, or if you want to wait until Monday the lottery will be run (the 1961 season is over on Sunday) and we will know who got the #1 pick.

If you look at the rookies available shown above, even the #4 pick will get an excellent player-there are 2 outstanding (imo) pitchers and several excellent hitters.

I will offer the first season at no cost for owners willing to commit to at least 1962, 1963 and 1964. After you enter your team for 1962 I will send you a gift certificate for $12.95 so the first season will be no cost.

Chicago and Philadelphia are still available/

Only the Cubs left

I have posted a preliminary keeper list for the Cubs and the 1962 draft is about to start.

I plan to draft for the Cubs until a replacement owner is found-jump in quickly so you can make all of the 1962 Draft Picks !!

The Cubs are drafting 6th and the first 2 picks in the first round have been made !!
