1988 Team Icon League needs 3 - (LAD, NYY, OAK) Topic

The Team Icon League II Needs three owners for the 1988 season. The teams are the Dodgers, Yankees and Athletics. The main concept of the league is that you can only draft or trade for players that played for your team at some point. For instance Roberto Alomar who is a rookie in 1988 can only be drafted by Toronto, San Diego, Cleveland, Baltimore, New York Mets, Chicago White Sox or Arizona. The three rosters are below. The Dodgers went 63-99 and will pick 5th or 6th in the 1988 Rookie Draft depending on tiebreakers, the Yankees went 88-74 and will pick 13th and the Athletics went 91-72 (the lost a tiebreaker game against the Angels for the AL West title) and will pick 17th.

The league has 20 teams and there are currently no teams in Montreal, San Diego, Milwaukee, Toronto, Minnesota & Seattle. If you wish to take one of the three open teams and move them to an open franchise we have plans laid out for relocation. The only request is that the teams stay relatively even geographically. So the Dodgers could move to San Diego, the Yankees to Milwaukee, Minnesota or Toronto and the Athletics to Milwaukee, Minnesota or Seattle. If you do decide to move all of your current players will have to be phased out over the course of three years. So if you took the Yankees to Toronto you would have to have all players who were Yankee eligible off your team by the start of the 1990 season. This is to prevent someone to relocate a strong team to a new city just to take advantage of a strong draft class in a particular year.

I'll take Oakland and those bash brothers
7/20/2015 10:36 AM
They're all yours. The A's had gone through a lot of turnover of owners in the past but I've been running them the last few seasons and I think they're finally back in a good spot. They should contend for the AL West again in 1988.

The Dodgers also have Hershiser and Ojeda at the very least, just going off the top of my head.

I'd be interested in the Yankees, what are some of the other rules such as salary cap?
7/21/2015 3:35 AM
No salary cap, but due to the restrictive nature of the draft/trading you rarely get a roster even close to $100m. For instance the Pirates just won the 1987 World Series and had the best record in the league at 106-56 and their team salary was only $85m.
7/21/2015 10:16 AM
Sounds good. How about trading of future draft picks? If a player played for just one franchise, can that franchise then pick that player in any round of the draft?
7/21/2015 10:25 AM
Any player like that you get without having to spend a draft pick on him. And you can trade picks up to two seasons ahead of the current draft. So since we're to begin the 1988 Draft as soon as we fill up you can trade picks from 1988, 1989 or 1990.
7/21/2015 10:49 AM
Okay, I'll take the Yankees franchise if still available. Is there a league forum you can add me to?
7/21/2015 1:18 PM
Done.
7/21/2015 4:10 PM
We just need an owner for the Dodgers and we're good to go!!
7/21/2015 4:23 PM
If you're looking for an owner for the Dodgers I'd gladly take them. However, I won't be back in town until the 1st week in August. Let me know.

We'd love to have you. I am perfectly ok with waiting until you get back. I still haven't finalized all the availables yet anyways.
