New Prog. needs 1 owner-filled !! Topic

One vacancy has opened up. The owner of the 1976 Philadelphia Phillies franchise posted his 18 man keeper list and made the first 4 of his 7 draft picks and subsequently vanished. The franchise includes such core 1976 Phillies players as Mike Schmidt 3B, Dick Allen 1B, Larry Bowa SS, Greg Luzinski OF and Pitchers Steve Carlton, Larry Christenson and Tug McGraw and 10 others. The 4 draft picks made by the original owner from 1976 were Randy Jones P, Rick Burleson SS, Ken Griffey Sr. OF and Mark Fidrych P. I will give any interested owners access to our private forum where you can see the full list of 18 keepers from the 1976 Phillies teams. You will be also be able to draft any 3 additional 1976 players who are not already on another teams roster. The full list of players taken is posted in the private forum as well. Two owners have also expressed interest in trading players from other eras for 1976 players which you could consider before finalizing your last 3 draft picks. If interested, please sign up on the last page of this thread.

The only 2 teams with which this franchise is competing for players is the 1972 Cincinnati Reds and to a very minor degree the 1969 Baltimore Orioles.

This progressive will follow the Build Your Own Progressive format. The league will progress one season at a time. Listed below are 42 great teams from baseball history, notable for not only a great season but by being part of a dynasty at least 5 years in length. Interested owners should select one of these 42 teams. I will select after 12 other owners have entered.

All teams will be able to draft up to 7 additional players from the same year as the team they have selected.  These may replace players on the original roster, or the case of teams without 25 WIS eligible players fill one of the vacant spots. The initial draft will be snake style, 1-24, 24-1, 1-24 etc.

There are 2 limitations- first, although the Yankees are represented by 9 teams, only a maximum of 4 of these may be selected. Secondly, there must be a gap of at least 10 years between 2 teams from the same franchise. This primarily applies to the Yankees as well but also means, for example, that both the 1929 and 1935 Cubs cannot be selected. As teams are selected teams will be shown by bold face if taken or italic face if ineligible under the 10 year rule cited above.

The league will not allow a player (even though from different seasons) to be on more than one roster. Accordingly, as soon as you have selected a team you should post a list of keepers (a minimum of 18). I will set up a private forum to which you will be given access as soon as you select a team, for use for posting keepers. The private forum will also be used for the 7 round draft. The draft order for the initial draft will be established by a random draw on random.org. Please bear in mind that if you are drafting one of the teams from the early 1900's there may be less than 20 players with WIS eligible seasons. You can use anyone shown on baseball-reference.com as playing for your team who has a WIS eligible season, even if they don't come up on the automatic download from WIS.

Once a list of keepers has been posted none of the players listed may be listed as a keeper by a subsequent owner. Please check the keepers posted by owners ahead of you to ensure that none of your keepers have been taken. I will update  lists of taken players as frequently as possible.

For future drafts, all teams will progress one year at a time and owners will be able to draft up to 7 players from their current year. Future draft order will be in inverse order of the prior year's final regular season record, with ties broken by the use of random.org

Trades are permitted and traded players will continue to progress in accordance with their original year. Draft picks may be traded up to one year in advance except for the initial draft, where no draft picks may be traded. Trades must be 1 for 1 or 2 for 2 etc.

No DH, WW, AAA, unlimited IR for players with seasons not WIS eligible, injuries off

I am interested but undecided on a team as of now.  Questions - Do I have to keep my "originial" 18 players from year to year if they are on the roster each subsequent year?  Do I keep the 7 drafted players from year to year after I draft them and are they exclusive to me?   Is there a "reserve" list for years players are not on the roster?

No, you don't have to keep any specific players but you are limited to 7 draft picks per year-you can replace some of the original 18 or any of the subsequent draft picks. I failed to cover reserves but will allow unlimited reserves for players with seasons not WIS eligible. Don't forget teams from the early 1900's may have a limited number of WIS eligible players, so you may be limited to how many you can drop.
