This whole board seems to be really slow of late, so we've got to keep on it. Owners who are already signed up, do you know anyone else who would be interested in this? Let's spread the word!

To anyone considering joining this league: Don't waste your time. This commissioner, Tedco, started a 1946 post-war progressive about 8 months ago. Many prospective owners were hesitant due to Tedco's lack of experience on WIS, but we decided to give the eager commish a chance. After nearly a month of intense drafting and hundreds of hours of planning and analyzing, the league lasted just one season. The commish didn't make an attempt to move the league from one year to the next, despite a relative lack of owners (12)  - almost all of whom are of the highest quality. He stopped checking the private forum, his sitemails, and gave no effort to allay our concerns over the league's potential demise. He simply quit on the league.

Do not make the same mistake that I did.

Very classy just springing this in public without ever even asking me about it abf.

My 81 year old father in law who I provide virtually 24/7 care for was rushed to the hospital and spent two months in a nursing home recovering.

So I couldn't continue commishing at the time, or even run a team, which I told the league about. At the time, I  just said it was because of personal reasons at home and left it at that, because, you know, my family's medical situations are none of your business.

And as far as not replying to sitemails or checking into the forum, that was because I couldn't be on WIS, which is why I couldn't continue in the post-war league... put two and two together please before you make assumptions.

Since then,  as things have returned to normal on the home front, I have jumped back in to WIS and am participating in several leagues which I have been a part of for multiple seasons now with every intention of being in all of them for the long-term future.

And hey, just because I had a new username didn't mean I was new on the site. Do you think I would have been that thorough in launching a new progressive league if I was a total newbie?

I had hoped that one of the other owners would step in and continue the post-war league in my absence. If that didn't happen, that sucks, but honestly, it wasn't exactly my #1 priority at the time. That medical emergency disrupted my life in many ways, and believe it or not, some of them were a little bit more important than this website.

It's pretty irresponsible and childish to bring this up in this way, without even talking to me ahead of time.  People, please do not listen to this user's ill-informed assumptions and accusations, and I hope you consider joining what will be a great long-term progressive here at WIS.

I've sent the above message to abf, which he's opened, but have not gotten a reply.

While he is a long time owner here, his disinterest in actually caring to find out what really happened is a little bothersome.

I think we can safely put this non-controversy to bed. If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to take them, but there's really nothing more to say.

Let's fill this up and play some ball, we've got at least 20 great seasons in front of us, sign up today!!

Look, I'm not going to get into a prolonged debate over what happened. We all know you've wasted enough of my time already. I have not, contrary to what you assume, made any assumptions regarding your personal life in this discussion. I stated a simple fact: You started a new league, we drafted for a month, and you left.

And I am not alone in my frustration; consider these comments from other owners in our private forums:

crazyjoe02: "There's nothing to enter. We have all the rosters ready to go and to start the 1948 Draft, but our commish is MIA so we haven't even held the 1948 Draft."

Kallison1: "I wonder what happened to Tedco... Looks like this League is Dead... I have sent numerous Emails, but No answer from Tedco..".

umdterp397: "Hate when I join progressive leagues, draft long term, and then the league dies . . . not cool."

Let me make one thing clear: this is not a smear campaign against your character, Tedco. While I am sympathetic to any personal issues that you may have incurred, what I don't understand is why you left behind 11 other quality owners without the decency of an apology or explanation. Or worse yet, you've given no effort to revive our relatively small league given your return to WIS and newfound leisure time. Heck, every roster is posted and the league is still all ready to go, except the commish went MIA. Hence my surprise when I came across my 'ol friend Tedco drumming up support for a new league in the classifieds.

I'll put this to issue to bed (for now), and I would still encourage any owner out there to join this league. But proceed with caution and be aware of the very real possibility that you could spend up to a month drafting and the commish could just one day stop showing up.

No chance of that happening here what so ever.

Unless I step out to get the mail later and am struck by lightning, or other some such act of god or nature, I'll be here tomorrow, the day after that, and the year after that, as this league moves on through the seasons.

As for the post-war league and re-starting it, that's a great idea for me or anyone else to pick up, but I have no idea if everything we already did can be accessed, or even who the other 11 owners were. The private forum doesn't show up for me anymore.
