Well maybe this a pipe dream, but I was thinking about progressive leagues and how easy (relatively) it is to build a great team, you drafted Randy Jones because you know he will be lights out in 76, but whatif in 76 he shows up in '74 form?  Real GMs deal with uncertainly and we don't.  So here's my correction.

so roll the dice (like real dice, 1 to 6 on each die, like a craps game) ...  and you get one of his seasons

2 current season -3  (odds 2.8%)
3 current season -2  (odds 5.6%)
4 current season -1  (odds 11.1%)
5 current season -1  (odds 13.9%)
6 current season       (odds 16.7%)
7 current season       (odds 19.4%)
8 current season       (odds 16.7%)
9 current season +1  (odds 13.9%)
10 current season +1  (odds 11.1%)
11 current season +2  (odds 5.6%)
12 current season +3  (odds 2.8%)

If the result of the roll is not possible such as a rookie getting a roll of -1, -2, or -3, a re-roll occurs until a valid season is the outcome.   The same would be true if the result of the roll is a season when the player is on the DL (re-roll it). 

As GMs we still have the advantage of KNOWING his seasons, but rolling each player adds uncertainty to the building of obvious championships.

All players will be "rolled" using random.org by after the draft.  If you want I'll do as much as possible LIVE, in sim live so you can "see" your players at once.

Also if anyone wants to run the draft (I'll do the dice rolls), I'd be happy to give up the free team for running the league.

Based on early interest we'll start this one in 1970 (one of my favorite periods) and progress from there.

I'm also open to different methods of determining the following year's draft order.  I'm interested in using just4me's method, though it seems difficult for me to administer.

Trade draft picks only one year in advance (71 picks during 70 draft, etc)
$50 prizes from admin if we maintain 12/24 owners over 5 seasons.

i like the idea.  i threw something like this out in the forums a few years ago and i got the same thing -- no response.  i'll be the first in with ya...

I like the idea too.  Something a little different so you don't know going into the season if you'll be able to compete or not.  If this gets off the ground, Ill probably get in.  I like a little more modern time than 1961 though.  Like 70s or 80s, but I'd do 1961 if that's what you go with.

There's an add up for the "Once Random Progressive" that is very similar to this. They're in their second season and have an open team. It's right near this in the classifieds.

And also, do I understand correctly that each season, every player on every roster will have a random draw to determine which of their seasons is used?
