Fix Player Rest for Minor Leaguers when season end Topic

So call them up before you actually need him.   He'll recover just fine while sitting on the BL bench.   Or call up one of the other guys that is 100%.  Surely all your pitchers aren't fatigued from the minor league's last few games.

And, no, we're talking about all players.  Not just the fatigued ones.   It just makes it easier for someone to manipulate service time if all minor leaguers are 100% when the playoffs begin.

So I'll state this again:    Perhaps you could change my mind if you found some examples of MLB players who played 0 innings of BL ball but were added to playoff rosters.

You keep acting like it's just impossible to be prepared with A 40 MAN ROSTER AVAILABLE TO YOU.

Why is that?

When the minor league season is over players on minor league rosters do not recover at all (unless you're in the playoffs). I'm not asking for instant recovery...just continued recovery. So, for instance if your AAA SS who is on the 40 man roster is at 93% at the end of the AAA season and you need to bring him up 20 HBD cycles later he should not still be at 93%.

If that's how it works, you are correct. It's a bug. Should be fixed.

Read the thread.  It may not be a bug.   Even if it is, it prevents roster manipulation and doesn't need to be "fixed".

It is a bug...and the convoluted explanation is without basis as it only effects the players on the minor league rosters that were used in the last few minor league games. It seems there are a few on these forums that will come up with any possible scenario...no matter how contrived to explain a bug.

BTW, the same thing happens in the period after spring training and before the regular season. No player/pitcher rest takes place, but injuries do continue to heal.

What do I have to gain by explaining away a bug?

The simple fact of the matter is you have a way, approximately 19 HBD days, to resolve this issue you have.   You don't want to use the tools at hand because it will require cap space, possibly a waiver clear and, finally, use service time.

I'll ask again, name one MLB player who was added to a playoff roster without appearing in a big league game that season.   Just one.

Doesn't have to be the playoff roster...now does it? Can just be a fill-in for the regular season. Could be a spot start down the stretch to allow some pitcher rest. The player should be ready, but they're not.

It's also not about salary, or waivers because all of that could be moot if the player had already been on the BL roster and sent down that season (clearing waivers). No, this is about a bug plain and simple that should be fixed.

And as I said...it doesn't even work for your goal because it only effects those players that were used in the last few minor league games....so what you're saying is plan for this and dump the last two-weeks of minor league games by not playing your best players. Yep, that's a worthwhile goal.

As for your motives...have no idea...perhaps you get a sense of fulfillment out of it.

I'm done on this with you...you can go troll some other thread.

This.

You have plenty of options and plenty of time.   Why can't you be prepared for late season needs?

I asked customer support about this issue, but specifically with respect to spring training. They said it was a mistake on their part and that it would be corrected in the next update.

That was three years ago.

I don't really have an issue with ST.    But what shoenberg is requesting is a fine way to game the system and is ripe for abuse.    And it's also ridiculously unrealistic.   Because I know someone has been trying to find a MLB player who didn't play a single BL inning but did play in the playoffs.    It won't happen because no team, with the playoffs on the line, will say "Aw, hell.  Let's see what he does under playoff pressure.   The regular season is overrated."

Without looking too deeply, I think KRod did it for the Angels in 2002...

Without looking too deeply, incorrect.

It's a bug.  Mike's arguments here are bullsh*t

When a situation is obviously set for abuse, there is NO reason to give owners a tool to make it easier.

Call bullshit if you like.  I'll assume you're in some 'tard world where you can hold a 5 year stud back in AAA, win your division and call him up to use as a starter in the playoffs.  Because, if you don't think that will be what happens, you have your head deep in the sand.   Or somewhere dark.
