She is very easy to make fun of.  That said, the attacks and jokes about her family are uncalled for (Letterman comes to mind).

That said, she did say some dumb ****, and it had nothing to do with her family. It was scary to think that if McCain won, we were a stroke away from Palin running the show. And 75 year olds are at a much higher risk of stroke than 50 year olds.

Don't Presidents have a shitload of advisors?    A Congress(except for Obama) that has to approve most of their actions?

Palin would have been no more of a circus than Obama, McCain or Biden.

The simple fact of the matter is that the libs couldn't say "There's a real chance that old ****** might die in office" so they wrote it up as "Palin is a heartbeat away from being President!!"   Much nicer.

Wasn't there a leak about McCain's mental stability after being a POW that set off a shitstorm?    That was backed away from quick.

You make it sound like it doesn't matter who's president.
11/5/2014 3:31 PM
Well, I've had this discussion before when Dubya was criticized for continuing to read to kids after 9/11.    President's are not QBs.   They don't have to make split second decisions.   They talk to advisors and then make a decision.   Perhaps you believe Palin would have said "No, I want to paint our tanks pink then attack North Korea!!!" and ignored the military advisors.   But that would make you a "low information voter".

IMO, the Prez matters but more because of who he surrounds himself with, how he listens to those people and the image of leadership he projects.  I've said many times that Obama is a fantastic speaker.   He projects a fantastic image.   I think he surrounded himself with like-minded people(I'm sure most do) and his policies were approved by "yes-men" long before he announced them.

So Palin would surround herself with people who think like her?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Although I understand in this situation, it's McCain's people.

I would be worried about how she'd deal with people when her advisors couldn't "speak for her." Foreign leaders and the like. And I feel like she'd just be overwhelmed in general. Obviously, I don't know for sure.

And you wouldn't have worried about Biden on his own?   C'mon.

Palin would have been the most "managed" Prez in history.

Overwhelmed like Hilary screaming "What difference at this point does it make?" during the Benghazi hearing?

Biden says some dumb ****, but I feel like he said much less of it at the time.  He also was in Washington forever, it's not like he didn't have a grasp on how things worked there. Palin was both inexperienced and incompetent.

Maybe if Obama was 70-something, we would have heard some **** about how you can't elect someone when Biden is the VP.

You're basing this opinion on the media reports, who tend to turn a blind eye to the liberal's missteps ("Hey, Joe, how's your SON doing?") and emphasize the conservative's problems ("Hey, Sarah, how is Bristol doing?").  Biden is a certifiable, proven bozo that the media whitewashed (no pun intended), Palin was a likely bozo that the media demonized.

I don't think Palin's family issues have anything to do with her incompetence as a potential president.

No.  I'm thinking only the Obama administration could have bungled Benghazi so masterfully.

Do you think it was her inexperience that doomed her?

Honestly I didn't like Palin at all but to be fair she was unprepared and not ready to be thrust in that role. A novice trying to ***fake while they make it***. Much like an inexperienced Obama with his resume (no governing, no management, barely a senator). The difference is Obama can fake it better on the campaign trail.

But given the choice between these two scenarios:

A 70 yr old experience President with a chance an inexperienced VP may have to step in
Or
An inexperienced 50 yr old President with less chance the experienced VP would have to step in

I'm taking the chance the experienced 70 yr old President lives 4-8 years rather than 100% guaranteeing inexperience @ the most important job in America.

Yes, and her perceived incompetence. Maybe she would have been great at the job, but the words that came out of her mouth said otherwise.
