Obama: Worst President Ever? Topic

My point was pretty simple.

Obama didn't need to make that statement.   He has Presidential duties and his agenda.   Of course he's going to veto bills he does not like and issue Executive Orders when Congress won't budge.    He created acrimony for no reason.   That's just stupid.

When I see my wife tonight, I'm gonna scream "NO, I WON'T BUY YOUR PARENTS A NEW HOUSE!!!"    No one asked but, hey, why not make it clear that I'm not doing it?

Actually, it was a press conference. He was responding to a question.

And also, the acrimony is there no matter what he says.

He was more antagonistic than was necessary. Especially if his real goal is to work across the aisle and try to get things done as he claimed.

It looked to me like he sort of teetered between acting like he really meant what he was saying and letting his real feelings show occasionally...

Similar but not exact.   I don't know that you talk down to anyone here but it's the image you portray(I've done the same thing when I lived for the dollar).   So, yeah, it creates a divide that doesn't need to be created.  I think we all know if you work harder your chance of success is increased but not guaranteed(which is kind of what you insinuate just as I did).   There's just no need to hammer it home time and time again.

By saying "I'm going to do this and not that" before anyone even takes office is off-putting.   There's already a problem in DC between parties.  Cranking out a statement saying "Yep, I'm the Prez and you're not so I'll do as a I please" does nothing to close the divide.

To put it another way, as a SBO, I've found that conflict is inevitable between myself and customers/employees.   It's just going to happen.   However, if you avoid making it personal, you can settle the issue and move forward with no lingering hard feelings.   I'm sure the POTUS knows this.   So, rather than make it sound like he's ready to fight with Congress, he could have said something along the lines of "As the POTUS, it is my duty to do what I think is best for America and it's citizens."   No need to bring up Congress and the conflict he knows is coming(and has been there since Day 1).   Just state your objective.

Now Obama doesn't have Harry Reid to do his dirty work anymore.  I think we need to allocate $100 for extra veto stamps.

Obama has never worked with the Republicans on anything.  The only time stuff got done was when Boner capitulated on everything and gave in.
I'm excited about this. The republicans can really stick it to Obama by passing popular opinion bills like border security, Tax reform, job creation. These are all good for America.
Unless the dems use the filibuster like the GOP did.

Hoping to "stick it to Obama" isn't a worthy goal.   It's part of the problem.
It's been "stick it to Obama" since the beginning. Let's make him a one term president and I hope he fails has been the narrative since day 1.

There are a lot of bipartisan bills already sitting in the house. That's where I'd start since fellow democrats already approve of the bill.
If at least 60 Senators already want the bill to pass, it probably isn't a "stick it to Obama" bill.
