Even when BL is on the correct side of an argument, he ***** it up.

Well done, homie.

I don't think we've disagreed on any point so far. We both agree that the flag should come down. What exactly is your problem?

I don't think anyone believes it will stop crazy people from doing crazy things. But it is a good thing to take down a symbol of racism from the state Capitol.
I agree completely.

Do you think that will stop racism?

Did you answer this?
6/23/2015 10:42 AM
Didn't see it.

Of course just taking down a symbol of racism won't stop racism.

So taking down the Confederate flag flying over the state capital isn't going to inspire Billy Ray Redneck to also take down his Confederate flag hanging on the wall in his ****** hatin' room in his basement and burn his Klan outfit?
6/23/2015 10:49 AM
Nope

So there is no link between the Confederate flag flying over state capitals in the deep south, and the fact that racists will do racist things?

Well, allowing the confederate flag to fly over the state Capitol could be considered "racists doing racist things."

B...bu...but the flag.....

I don't think it's flown over the state capital for years.    It was on the state grounds at some Confederate memorial.

Has anybody ever been killed by a flag flying on a building?

No, does someone have to be killed for something to be considered racist?
6/23/2015 11:29 AM
No, of course not.

I'm just trying to understand the direct link between a flag and the shootings in SC.

Educate yourselves.   All this stuff can be googled.

http://www.npr.org/sections/itsallpolitics/2015/06/22/416548613/the-complicated-political-history-of-the-confederate-flag

But in 2000, a compromise was reached — the battle flag would be removed from atop the dome and a smaller, square version would be placed at a less-prominent place on the Statehouse grounds — on a 20-foot pole next to the 30-foot Confederate monument. But that didn't end the controversy, and many years of protests, criticism and boycotts followed.

Should the Confederate monument be removed from state grounds?

There is no direct link. It's sad that it took a crazy racist to draw enough attention to the insane fact that states still fly the confederate flag. It should have been taken down decades ago.

Who needs states anyway? Just dissolve them all and let big daddy Washington DC take care of everything for us all.
