If your wife is seriously considering voting Republican now, she was never all that liberal to begin with. She was probably always right leaning with maybe an issue or two that pushed her Democrat.
Do a position checklist on her:
Pro-life?
Flat tax?
Gay marriage?
Immigration?
Bank regulation?
Stimulus spending when demand has collapsed?
Climate Change?
The root cause of the Civil War?
Evolution?
Pro-choice
Doesn't care
Pro-Gay Marriage
No idea
Doesn't care
Doesn't care
Not a big issue for her - Leans towards hoax after reading a few books on the subject.
Doesn't care
Doesn't care
Not ALL Democrats care about every democratic position.
I vote Republican, although I'm more of a conservative, and I care deeply about lower taxes, smaller government. I don't care much about social issues. I think the fed govt should butt out and let the states decide on flags, gay rights, etc. I personally am pro-choice and support gay marriage. People should be able to do what they want to do.
So she's going to vote Republican even though:
She's pro-choice and every serious GOP candidate is pro-life
She doesn't care about tax rates and every serious GOP candidate is talking about tax reform
She is pro-gay marriage and every serious GOP candidate believes marriage is between a man and a woman
She doesn't care about banking regulations or government spending
Of the list, the only GOP stance she takes is on climate change; which is interesting. Things like abortion, tax rates, immigration, and gay marriage are matters of opinion. Climate change is a matter of fact.
Your wife doesn't seem very smart.
