Van Jones, a CNN contributor and former aide to President Barack Obama offered a dire warning to fellow Democrats, claiming Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump “probably will win the presidency” in November.

Jones argued that Trump hasn’t been breaking the rules but has instead been “conforming” to the new rules of engagement, citing his skilled use of social media, his mastery of reality television and his ability to appeal to African-American voters will likely lead the billionaire businessman to win the presidency this fall.

The youth vote is why I think Trump can win the republican nomination and even the presidency. That's his wildcard. He dominates social media like no politician has ever done.
More from Jones:

“Everything that Trump is doing conforms to the rules of social media,” he said in a Facebook video posted late last week. “You don’t get fewer followers when you insult somebody on Twitter, or say something outrageous on Twitter, you get more followers.”

“If you’re on a reality TV show, and you’re the villain, the villain is often the star of the reality TV show and, in fact, we were wrong,” he continued. “We thought Trump had left the world of entertainment, had left the world of reality television, and climbed over the wall into the world of politics. In fact, what he did, was he took the world of politics and he pulled it over the wall into the world of reality television.”

Jones compared Trump’s ability to adapt to new media in the same way Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy, Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama excelled in new mediums better than any of their competitors.

“Just like FDR changed the rules of the game because he mastered radio, he was able to take radio and just completely master that — then you had JFK and JFK was able to master television — new medium, new master, new president,” Jones said.

All the polling has shown that younger voters overwhelmingly dislike Trump. He's strongest amongst middle-aged voters, then older voters, and least with the younger voters. So while I actually see a lot of credibility to that idea in general, I don't see it working in practice. Empiricism has been the downfall of many lovely social theories. Trump dominating the young people is the communism of American electoral politics.

I haven't seen any polling data about Trump and young voters.

However, I HAVE seen articles about Hillary Clinton's unpopularity with young people. Seems like a big question will be whether Sanders supporters will migrate to Clinton.

Trump will throw Cruz the knockout punch today!!!
5/3/2016 8:01 AM

Compared to a few weeks ago when the Republican candidates had similar margins against Clinton, Trump has gained ground in the match-up against Clinton, whereas Cruz has lost momentum, suggesting that perhaps voters are supporting Trump as the Republican Party's potential nominee more than they have in the past.

The poll also found that following Trump's landslide primary victories last week, his support among Republican and Republican-leaning voters nationally is up 6 points. Trump has hit 56 percent support, his highest yet in the NBC News|SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking Poll.

I don't like Clinton at all. She's a terrible candidate that would get blown out in a normal year. But people hate Trump (and Cruz) even more. Since the general election is a zero sum game, Trump won't be able to beat her. Too many people hate him.
Think you better recheck the "I hate Hillary" numbers, before stating Trump's ensure his loss.

More and more people are grasping what a lying, cheating, greedy, self-serving beotch she is. Her qualifications are probably better than anyone elected in the last 40 years, but she is the one who is incredibly easy to hate.

http://www.businessinsider.com/poll-donald-trump-hillary-clinton-unfavorable-rating-2016-4

"Fifty-five percent of Americans say they have a negative opinion of Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton in the latest AP-GfK poll. But that's not nearly as bad as how they view the leading candidate for the Republican nomination, Donald Trump. His unfavorable rating stands at an unprecedented 69 percent."

Sixty nine percent. That's a big number. That's an amazing number. That's a number nobody else has. And we're going to make it a bigger number. It will be a number nobody else will ever come close to. We're going to do that. And it will be fantastic.

I think that was my favorite thing Tec ever posted.

Harvard study says Trump loses young voters 61-25 vs. Hillary.
