I wish this dude would just accept my trade offer in $ and get it over with. If it happens I will be pretty light on bats on my quest to repeat

I need to sucker someone into taking Stone Covelski's contract next season so I can have more prospect money to transfer - but a backloaded contract to a 6 inning starter type (albeit a quality one) who is aging and injury prone is a tough sell.
When I was moving my older players a few seasons ago, I was lucky to find takers who were willing to pay 50 cents on the dollar for most of my players.  Raphael Chavez and Jerry Magadan notwithstanding

Its a total crap shoot though.  I paid 10M for Max Cedeno, and 8.5M for Frank Chang, this year, I'd likely have to pay that full 18M to land one player of that caliber though
I got Suzuki for like 9.  No way that happens this year.

In my opinion, he was the prize of last years prospects.  Both domestic and international

I'd do it if you threw in prospects.

Yeah.  I agree.  I was really lucky a lot of people did not see him.

I saw the other Iwajima kid, Frank Chang, if I had seen them both I'd have basically emptied my coffers for them.  Late season signing of Max Cedeno as a consolation prize is nothing to sneeze at though.

I don't know that I see such a deal being a good idea given where my Minors team is at.

Unless by "prospects" you mean potential Setup B type relievers.

Yeah, he seems good.  I think I saw him as well, but I am always hesitant to fork over a lot of coin for right handed hitters that aren't top shelf defenders at CF/SS/C.

One good prospect would do it.

Frank projects to 88/90/91/93 on defense, with a makeup in the high 80's low 90s.  It will be a definite upgrade over the competant, but unspectacular Midre Maradona

We can talk, but Stone is a quality player, just overpriced, so I'd need to get something of value back in that kind of deal.
10/26/2010 3:07 PM
I sent you something as I see he has cleared and we could probably do the deal now.
