I sent you something as I see he has cleared and we could probably do the deal now.
I figured you'd want Diaz - I'm not really interested in giving him up to clear cash for the international market.

I got a bunch of relief-type prospects in the draft this year - if any of them interest you, we could potentially revisit after rollover since I can't trade them now.

Hmm.  Okay.

I figured by throwing in legit prospects (1.5 ML SPs) that we definitely had a deal.

I tend not to pay for RPs because I can usually put together a pretty nice bullpen without expending much in the way of resources....  evidenced by me getting 400 IP of 3.00 ERA ball and the leading candidate for Fireman of the Year with all free agent scraps.

I'd swap out the low control guy for a slightly better pitcher for what it's worth.

very noble of you

Heh.

I consider that number to be high - neither of those guys impress me - Carew's best asset is his ability to produce a near TM-level quantity of mediocrity.

The Bats are on an inspired last week run in Minor Leagues that is probably going to cost us a couple draft slots. Year 1 of that rebuild hasn't been ideal, given that it was a relatively weak draft and I couldn't get a stud international.
yeah, we've probably played .500 ball since i traded away some talent mid-season, still should draft 2nd or 3rd

Heh.  I knew you would want to comment on that.

It really is 1 guy who could be on my ML team and one guy who would be on half of owners' ML teams.

If you think you can get a lot better for Coveleski and the 20 million you would have to spend on him, then I wish you luck.

I do think Diaz would fit along really nicely with my Rodgers, Canseco, Okajima, May quartet though if you want to talk a different deal at some point.

He cleared waivers - I'm not under any illusions about how much he's worth in a trade. It's not killing my budget to keep him since it would probably just be money transferred to prospect budget that I'd lose half of anyhow.

Diaz isn't untouchable, I'd just be looking for more than back of the rotation SP and some extra cash in return.
