You got who would be the most "popular" player in the deal... Â Montanez is a guy that I abhor but BLE will like. Â File is probably a little better than Reimold but most people would take Reimold. Â Andino is trash.
IÂ dont disagree. Andino was a late addition to the deal to fill in. I needed to gain an SP with the STÂ injury. I'll admit my payroll hurt me. IÂ couldnt do a thing this offseason. IÂ maybe should have let some of my arb guys go--but with FA prices where they were IÂ dont think I would have done much better value-wise. The Daniels deal is the one that really handcuffed me. That deal will put me in better shape for next season--saving File's and Montanez's contracts. Im just hoping to eek out the division again and to be able to improve next season.
Yeah... Â that Daniels deal is tough. Â It is obviously stated that I don't like the Riggen deal but at least he is a top flight player (maybe the best player in the world)... Â Both deals become a lot more to bear due to the existence of one another though. Â 32 million to two guys, only one of whom is good, is a bitter pill.
I wonder if you could ultimately do a deal where you trade Riggen and force the buyer to also take Daniels and still get solid talent in return. Â Season 4-6 is usually when free agency starts to bear more fruit. Â I am not sure you would ever get what you would want in that deal... Â You obviously probably don't get anyone as good as Riggen back, but if you could get 2-3 AS-ish players back while losing the Daniels deal, it might be worth exploring.
