It's a shame Riggan wouldn't waive his no trade.
It was really unfortunate Daniels wouldnt waive his.

Is that the +SS with mediocre bat you are paying $60M to over the next 4 years.  I just picked up a +SS with -bat for $680K

ok, he wont be playing RF. He should be good for about 10 negative plays at 1b.

I did the poor 1B in LF with Gerry Caruso.  he only ended up with like 11 career errors there and 11 - plays.

I have superior defense across the board. I could either hide him at 1b or RF and hope his lack of range wouldnt kill me ant the other defenders can pick him up. Romano is my likely catcher of the future. In all likelihood I will find the right opportunity to trade Hatcher. I considered dropping the catchers and Mercedes from the deal altogether. Not sure if Welsh sould have gone for that..and I felt I could get more for Hatcher down the road than I gave up in that package.
RF?  That is crazy talk.  He would half 40 - plays..
Word.  Murph, you being commish of an HBD world is like Rob running a chapter of AA.
I can't believe I said half instead of have.  Fregobretian

just thinking aloud...Ive never tried a player like him in RF. There was a long thread on where to hide your poor defenders--I thought there was good argument for putting them in RF..Few chances..Particularly if you have a CF with superior range it might do the least damage. That could be a decent ST experiment if I cant find an example elsewhere. I do take defense seriously, particularly +/- Had 90 + and 22- last season--the best differential in the league.

(Was Bret playing left handed infielders? (105 negative plays))

If I didnt have Romano--who projects very well offensively--only a bit below Hatcher, but is superior defensively, Id have no problem with Hatcher at C. You would more than make up for his average defensive skills with the superior bat.

Even guys with 40 range get killed in the OF these days.  Sort of annoying.  Maybe they always did but I started really paying a lot of attention to D the last several seasons after seeing teams with little in the way of talent with with ++ range.  Hatcher has a good bat but I don't think it is good enough to play C.  Hell, I don't even like playing Woodie Jacobs at C and he has one of the best bats in all of HBD and mid-60's across the board defensively.

My favorite part is I remember us calling you out for that contract when you signed it and you said you could afford it because you weren't going to have to pay up for anyone over the life of the deal or something like that.

I tried it.  I don't know what happened but I swear like three seasons ago you stopped being able to get away with it.  Even Barney Pall struggles in the field.

Pride, Day, Bates and a host of others miss the cut for me.  Voting for the top two starting pitchers (Romero and Franco), the AL dominating Grieve, the best pure slugger in Yoshii, and the best hitter in any world Morton
3000 hits isnt HOF worthy?

Franco and Romero both are deserving, but it also seem reasonable to make them wait.

I'd say Morton, Day and Yoshii should really go in right now, and reasonable minds can differ (to the tune of like a dozen or more possibilities) about the other two possible votes.
for some reason Yoshii doesnt stand out to me as much as he does to many of you

Romano is my obvious catcher of the future. They may have made a change since that thread Im remembering that put the thought of throwing him in the OF. If he plays for me he'll be first base.I can keep him in the minors while he develops--there will be an opportunity to get good value for him--or I could end up putting him at 1b. Sterns killed me last year at C..I was amongst the bottom in cs% with him behind the plate.
