Shtickless - Unless Being Dead Is A Shtick Topic

I don't think 50 is low enough. I will say power is the one thing I'm most don't mind being below 60 and contact is the one I'd most like to see above 90.  My ratings are probably skewed from playing in Kansas City and Shea.

And I think if you are ??/??/95/95/95 you got a great chance to be a strong hitter.
I think if you have 3 90+ ratings out of the 5, you are going to be a successful hitter
What if it was 90 CNT, 90 vL and 90 PWR but the rest were trash?

Actually, wasn't Bernard Bates something like that?
Even if his other ratings were sub 30, that person would be a major league hitter for someone, at least as a pinch hitter through his pre arb years (and he'd be really cheap post arb, so he could stick around too).  If he played above average C, SS, or CF, he'd probably have a 10 year ML career

And if the other ratings were around 65 like the player initially referenced, I'd prefer contact, power and batting eye to be higher since the splits are acceptable.

Yeah, defense changes the game.

I mean, lets take these five guys:

50/70/70/70/70

70/50/70/70/70

70/70/50/70/70

70/70/70/50/70

70/70/70/70/50

How would you rank them in terms of best player to worst player?

I would go 1, 3, 2, 4, 5 assuming switch hitter...  if it is a lefty, swap 3 and 4...  if it is a righty, swap 4 and 5.
i cant rank them without knowing their defensive ratings, those are everything to me.

50 isn't low enough to prove your point. I would be happy with any of the ones you posted.

Go 70/70/70/70/40 etc. and I am gonna flinch when the BE or the vR is the low. Not when it is any of the others.
Mark James comes to mind. 70/97/95/38/96

That BE v. CON thread got me looking at single-season strikeout records in $. The fact that moy won 100 games in S15 with Bo Fultz getting 520 ABs is a testament both to how good he's been at getting top-end talent in the world, and how horrible he's been at managing the rest of the rest of his roster.
Who is Bo fultz?

huh... I guess I did have the guy on my team. Probably just a bottom of the line-up defensive COF to keep player salary under the cap. I don't even remember playing him, especially 3 seasons. He may have been my bench OF. I dunno

really though - who wouldn't want a 15/38/28/13/31 hitter?

KC sweeping SA is the most surprising happening of the season to me.
That sucked...it's not my best team--but it's pretty good.  KC has some bats.

yes they do. I dread playing KC more than anyone else in the playoffs. When BPs bats are hot his team is unbeatable.

Fultz did start a bunch of different positions but good God.  You couldn't find a AAA player better than that?

even when the BM's were at their worst, none of my ML players were that futile both on offense and defense
