He did. I proposed it once he suggested Chavez was available. He sent a TC asking if I could throw a lefty in, instead. I said none I wanted to part with. I guess he didn't get any better offers...

It's not that unfair. He loses the contract after this season. Thumper could replace him in the starting lineup. Mateo could play a bench position. And Hi Lane has some merits down the line. Nobody overwhelming, but better than what the Marlins got for Uggla...

Heh...  I, and I think most people with winning records, probably don't want those three guys ever getting more than 100 bats in an ML season...  for a season in and season out AS.  Awful.  I am not going to blow up the World Chat or anything...  other people can form their own decisions.  I can't let that one go.  However, since I intend to veto it that surely means I will accidentally approve it.  I don't even think coyote ever pushed anything that bad through.

It's not quite as bad as I originally thought, realizing that Chavez is probably going to be a corpse by the end of his contract, but the contract relief is the only thing of value he's getting.

I think you're overreacting.

Thumper is a cheaper alternative, who will provide ~90% of the on base, and 70% of the rbi potential of Chavez.  The other two guys, I dont recal much about, but if no one else gave him a better offer, then if nothing else getting the contract of his hands may be in pimps best interest

I think you overrate Thumper because he had one really nice year for you after several pretty poor ones - he's really not that good anymore.

That being said, I agree on the value of losing that contract since Chavez is about to die, which is why I'm not vetoing.

I don't even know if Chavez will start for me.

I think he is falling apart, and that contract will be a burden next year and the year after, but I'm hoping having 20 in training will keep it from being that much of an albatross. And most of my players in the next season or two will get cheaper, anyway. So I think I can save money elsewhere to afford him, if need be.

But I'm  happy to have that bat added to my lineup. Should help keep everyone fresh and add another power presence to an already strong lineup.
