Both of mine were abused dogs that were rescued, but I got them young enough (both in the first year) that they made a pretty good recovery.   Both almost 7 years old now.
Abused as in they had to share a bed with VD?

Her's is a Rhodesian Ridgeback...  both mine are mutts.
Heh. Like that one player from the shtickless blog.

Which breeds do the mutts look like? Usually you can make an estimate.
Well, Humane Society claimed half heeler/half shepherd and half golden retriever/half chow.  I believe those to be partially right...  I see those respective breeds in the dogs, although I suspect both are also partial pitbulls because a) they sort of have that body type b) most dogs in Hawaii are and c) Humane Society would never admit it because it makes them harder to adopt.

I've never seen hi's and her's towels.

Hers?  I can't remember if that gets an apostrophe or not.  I think not.
And you graduated from college.
Yours, hers and ours right?

I could see that, but heeler/shepherd dogs aren't usually so square-headed. Elongated snout, too. I would think that'd be harder to hide a pit mix with.

Chow's tend to have that body type. My parents' dog was billed as half-chow but turned out half-samoyed. I read a lot up on chow's, and they can have that broad look and structure of a pit. But you'd notice it with the coat and the tail. I think those are dominant traits.

Plus chows have black tongues, so any chow mix would have some black on there.

The samoyed mix is a good looking dog. I really like mutts. I give my wife a hard time for going the basset hound route, but they are good family dogs. Work well for us now. But down the line I'd want a mix again.

Anything with moy in the mix is a good thing.

First is the supposed retriever/chow, second is the supposed heeler/shepherd.

I had a chow growing up.  It was pretty awesome.  Yorke does not have any black in his tongue but I didn't think it had to be that he inherited that feqture.  Brock has a pretty long snout.

I am not sure I would ever get a pure bread... so much risk with birth defects, retardness and higher risks of disease.

Plus, I love my mutts.

Some people have really good luck though.  I actually really like my girlfriend's dog, but it is just barely a year.  Who knows what is in store now...
