Yeah, after robot posted that +\- stat I looked at briese's teams. Most can't seem to hit and other than control pitch average as well. Defense is the new tandem glitch.

Someone tell Jim Palmer that VD is petitioning to get him out of the HoF. Putting Brooks Robinson at 3B (16 Gold Gloves), Paul Blair in CF (8 GGs) and Mark Belanger (8 GGs and a career .580 OPS) at SS meant that Earl Weaver was nothing more than a glitch *****.

[edit: Just looked and saw that Davey Johnson also won the GG at 2B for the Orioles between 1969-1971. Palmer himself won four GGs. All glitchery.]

I think continually doing what no one else is doing is the key to long-term sustained success. And we all steal from each other. I'm going with jwelsh's 0/0 HS/College scouting budget idea in Minors, and I really like how it frees up Type A signing. I've stolen b0t's 20/20 training/medical strategy for all my teams. And I love ace's old Whitey Herzog-based turn-em-loose-on-the-basepaths strategy, especially in leagues where you have a number of 60/60 catchers.

no one else does it because it shouldnt be effective in a functional sim engine.

Not as much as you would if you actually purchased some gloves for your team. And yeah, I get startin' somethin'.

i'd rather lose with hitting than win with defense.
