HR has very few elite closers attribute-wise... normally strong rp is easy to find.

I enjoyed the Dramas entry.
my team sucks and I suck at managing entry is always welcomed.
That used to be the moy entry. Do something about it. Just don't become insufferable in the process.
Morrie Keller with the save last night.

The fact that I killed orber doesn't help.

i just overpaid a bit to get the RP Rollins, but the fact that he's 25 and still minimum salary hopefully makes that a good long-term pickup

Yeah, after robot posted that +\- stat I looked at briese's teams. Most can't seem to hit and other than control pitch average as well. Defense is the new tandem glitch.

All briese's wins from here on out shall be discounted.
Been doing it for a while.  I like that he started something not really anyone else does to that degree.  It totally revamped my thoughts on D and it is the only reason my rebuilding talentless team in $ is hanging around.
I think continually doing what no one else is doing is the key to long-term sustained success. And we all steal from each other. I'm going with jwelsh's 0/0 HS/College scouting budget idea in Minors, and I really like how it frees up Type A signing. I've stolen b0t's 20/20 training/medical strategy for all my teams. And I love ace's old Whitey Herzog-based turn-em-loose-on-the-basepaths strategy, especially in leagues where you have a number of 60/60 catchers.
My latest thing is getting a deeper ML bench and being more aggressive situationally. It's helped greatly this year in $.

If I had a 1st baseman that could hit consistently, I'd be a lot better off

First of all, run prevention is a totally valid strategy that a number of real teams endorse. Cbriese's teams don't generally make mistakes in the field, the pitchers are good enough to keep the ball in play, and they hit just well enough to score four runs a game and win more often than not. Totally valid.

We've seen patterns where batting eye became mainstream, where relief pitchers with high health and durability and can pitch basically every game became vogue, and the ability to use tandems to control the order your pitchers enter the game.

robusk is placing emphasis on splits. acecards is valuing speed. babypop values pitch control and quality of pitches.

The 0/0 in amateur scouting is a valid strategy in that it frees up a ton of money for your organization in other means. On average you're getting at least $25m more to spend on players by abandoning the draft.

I think everyone develops their own niches. I have a bunch. Some which I'm not sure I should divulge.

Can the blog add a robusk or rlahann holier than thou feature? Or at least one of you registering under one of their usernames and doing an impression of them getting persnickety about HBD minutiae.

Going back to the defenses, the defensive ratings are one of the few truly corroborating statistics. You can see the relation between the stats and how they play. Not many others you can see quantified. It's usually abstract speculation, but with defensive ratings you can clearly see someone's ability as a number.

Also, I'm under the belief the fielding coach is the most closely linked to player improvement than any other coach. Considering the fielding coach effects the fielding of players at all levels of your organization.
