In all seriousness, your releivers in $ arent doing that far off what I'd expect them to do.
Don Drew's pitching well,
Sadie Shaw hasnt pitched much, has been generally reliable, except when he got lit up a few times
Reid Gilbert is not very good

Your long releivers are generally unreliable, and are prone to giving up hits and HR's so thats what they do

i was primarily right now referring to HR

Yeah, after robot posted that +\- stat I looked at briese's teams. Most can't seem to hit and other than control pitch average as well. Defense is the new tandem glitch.

All briese's wins from here on out shall be discounted.
Been doing it for a while.  I like that he started something not really anyone else does to that degree.  It totally revamped my thoughts on D and it is the only reason my rebuilding talentless team in $ is hanging around.
I think continually doing what no one else is doing is the key to long-term sustained success. And we all steal from each other. I'm going with jwelsh's 0/0 HS/College scouting budget idea in Minors, and I really like how it frees up Type A signing. I've stolen b0t's 20/20 training/medical strategy for all my teams. And I love ace's old Whitey Herzog-based turn-em-loose-on-the-basepaths strategy, especially in leagues where you have a number of 60/60 catchers.
My latest thing is getting a deeper ML bench and being more aggressive situationally. It's helped greatly this year in $.

same here.... the bo fultz's of the world don't make the cut anymore

First of all, run prevention is a totally valid strategy that a number of real teams endorse. Cbriese's teams don't generally make mistakes in the field, the pitchers are good enough to keep the ball in play, and they hit just well enough to score four runs a game and win more often than not. Totally valid.

We've seen patterns where batting eye became mainstream, where relief pitchers with high health and durability and can pitch basically every game became vogue, and the ability to use tandems to control the order your pitchers enter the game.

robusk is placing emphasis on splits. acecards is valuing speed. babypop values pitch control and quality of pitches.

The 0/0 in amateur scouting is a valid strategy in that it frees up a ton of money for your organization in other means. On average you're getting at least $25m more to spend on players by abandoning the draft.

I think everyone develops their own niches. I have a bunch. Some which I'm not sure I should divulge.
When a team is consistantly getting slotted at the end of the draft the players getting drafted aren't good enough to justify $20 mil+ in scouting. That money is much better utilized elsewhere. The only downside to 0/0 draft scouting is its slow to bring those budgets back up for type A/B FAs - you pretty much have to trade or re-sign those FAs to get value back for them.

Losing Tomas Esposito in $ is still bothering me (even though I got Leonard in exchange). He was initially slated to be my franchise leadoff hitter and right now I can't find anyone to fill that void. I miss him even more now that he is hitting .360+ for bot this season.

Now that I've promoted Fernando Santiago, you can have Sting Jones if you want.

Thanks. Not really the marquee (high OBP) type of player I am looking for, and am willing to pay. I've been trying to get Glenallen Mulder from Norfolk for probably 3 seasons now... maybe one day it will happen.

Definitely not a marquee guy, but as a one dimensional base stealer I figured he could have at least as much value as a high power, weak contact, split, eye AAAA regular

I keep a high draft budget and make an effort to acquire guys that'll net me compensation picks in return. I tend to get four picks in the top 100 in most drafts, and from there I hope to get three future ML guys out of it. By drafting effectively and scouting well, I can usually get a better return for that and keep a collection of prospects.

He's having a good season. He's close to 10 HRs already and is nearing 30 steals. And he's got a lot of RBI's for a leadoff hitter. I think he was just listed on the front page as being in the top five for the AL.

Steve Morris, who just hit for the cycle, could be had for the right deal. I'm using him mostly as a utility guy off the bench.

Dude definitely has wheels... the problem for me is that he has 3 ML seasons under his belt which means he will be asking for more than he is worth next season and beyond. Thats why I turned down the TP.

it would be entertaining to put together a team of base stealers and let them run crazy, what world does Ace do that in?

Colorado is making me nervous in $

Sergei did the same with that team last season and then fizzled out... I'm hoping for much of the same under new management.
