I'm not sure how going from an .860 OPS to a .640 OPS hitter at a position makes more sense because you have another similar hitter somewhere else in the lineup.
busk, I blame you for the fact that I just had to read that...
Are you referring to McGuire - then yes - I downgraded there. No arguement.
As far as making sense, that was only part of the reason - mcguire's talent was being wasted hitting 5th and/or 6th in the line-up. I couldn't find a way to get him more ABs since Philips and Mesa locked up the 1 and 2 spots. Hartman and Brush the 3 and 4 spots... and I wanted to get Olmeda in the 5 spot. Also - If I am to boost training/med to 18/14 and re-sign Mesa and Tessmer next season I needed to dump some long-term commitments off.
basically I traded McGuire and cap space for Garcia, imo.
Cap space is one deal... Â but that just all stems from the fact that you don't know how to manage money or a team.
As far as your lineup, that is absurdly stupid. Â First of all, him batting 5th or 6th means you have a deep lineup, which is a good thing. Â Secondly, you would have been better off with an order of Phillips, Hartman, Mesa, McGuire, Bush, Jimenez, Olmeda, Wright, Tessmer if you go strictly based on their career numbers (although Olmeda's career numbers are fucked because he was rushed up last season). Â The point is, where you chose to put McGuire in the lineup is not a reason to trade him.
