It looks like they're going to attach an internet poker bill to the tax cut extension. A lot of it is still up in the air, and it may not go through, but the general deal is that sites will have to go dark for 15 months (to US players) in order to qualify for a license to, at some point in 2012, operate legally in the US market. It will not be illegal for US players to play on sites, but it will be illegal for sites to knowingly take US play. So bodog and UB (and maybe some other smaller sites) may still keep operating, since they know they won't be able to get licenses anyway due to catering to other kinds of gambling. But it seems like PokerStars and Full Tilt will comply with the blackout, and then establish US-based servers in 2012. It's also assumed that Harrahs and other irl casinos will be establishing their own internet poker sites during the blackout.
