Another Tragedy Caused by an Armed Citizen Topic

I read a couple of accounts of the incident and it seems that more than one person was carrying a rifle in their car.

There's a difference between a rifle and a snipe rifle.    I own a rifle or two.   Are you saying that the good citizens of Texas have better rifles than the Texas police force?

And again I only have the accounts I have read, but yes they did.

I find that hard to believe unless Joe Citizen buys army surplus guns that the police force has no access to.

It did happen. You can look up any histroical analysis of the event. If Anton wasnt such a ***** he would back me up.

It did happen.

Look.  I can see one nutjob having better weapons than the police force.  He's on a mission.   But you're implying that the fine citizens of Texas are all armed better than the cops.   I find that hard to believe.

Maybe even more than their own police management realized.

This isnt a grand theory. Have you read the accounts? The News stories? There is a made for TV movie about it.

I wasnt there, so it is possible this was all created by the same guys who faked the Moon Landings, but I dont think so!

There was more than 1 moon landing!
One or more of them were fake!

I'm aware of what happened.  I'm doubting your version.

What a fantasy world swamp lives in! The only civilians involved were the victims!

From Time Magazine(probably a little more reliable than Wiki):

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,842584-1,00.html

No mention of civilian heroics.   No heavily armed citizens distracting Whitman by firing on him.   Just a short mention of Crum, a citizen who made his way to the tower.  And he was a former Air Force tailgunner.   One might say he was trained to use weapons a little bit better than Farmer Joe who bought his shotgun to shoot critters in a corn field.

From Trutv. Mentions the citizens getting guns and firing.

This is a little Twilight Zone to me. This isnt something I just heard or looked up. I have read stories of the police not having heavy weapons and the civilians pinning down Whitman and forcing him to shoot through the drain pipes all my life. I remember talking about this in High School and college when defending CCWs. The Time Life story not only not including it, but actually implying that it was police that pinned him down is shocking.

If my version of history is wrong it is a looking glass moment. I dont know what Time being wrong would be.
