New Obama Power grab. Topic

I like how swampfuck calls Bush flat out not enforcing laws "a little administrative juggling", but Obama's decision to enforce DOMA but not defend it against court challenges is a horrific abuse of power and very nearly an impeachable offense.

But that's about the level of partisan fuckery expected from Roger Ailes' cumdumpster. I've clearly been showing him too much respect recently.
Good to see you pop your head out when you find a specific post of mine that you think you can attack.

Typical left winger. You can say anything you want to someone who has a difference of opinion with you. They are very proud that they can insult Conservatives!

Remember when The Tea Party rallys were going on and the left was outraged over how violent and rude they were? Compare the worst of the Tea Party to the garbage going on in Wisconsin.

Anton is a classic liberal. No logic, all feeelings.

And of course I never said impeach. No one did. Anton just being Anton...making up stuff so his psychotic ramblings fit the moment!

So you're saying you believe Obama has engaged in multiple grave abuses of his power (this thread is, after all, called NEW Obama Power Grab) yet you don't think he should be impeached.

What a disingenuous, cowardly smear of goatshit you are.

Roosevelt tried to stack the SC, I dont think he should have been impeached. Every branch tries to spread its wings and gain extra power sometimes. It is wrong and must be stopped. We can do that at the Ballot box. We must remove Obama in 2012 to restore some dignity to the office!

You of course feel Bush should be a War  Criminal. Are you sure I am the extreme one?

I'm actually with Swamp (more or less) on this one...to me, there are two far superior ways to take issue with DOMA.  Either repeal the damn thing (like when you had a super-majority and should've forced through a ton of stuff--like DREAM), or bring suit against its constitutionality in federal court.  I don't really care that presidents have historically taken liberties here...there's a right way(s) to do this, and this doesn't seem like it.
1) Obama can't legislate. It's all well and good to say repeal 'should have been rammed through', but where exactly should Harry Reid have squeezed that into the Senate's calendar?

2) Actually joining a suit against it, rather than saying his DoJ will sit on the sidelines, might be a more pro-active approach, sure. But Obama's already campaigning for 2012, and as a campaign move not taking a side might be the better move.

He's not instructing anyone to ignore or circumvent the law. He's just saying his administration won't defend it in court any more. I don't see how that's taking any particular liberties.
Are you implying that politics gets in the way of doing the "right thing"?

Wouldn't you prefer a politician who does what he believes to be right rather than what he believes will get him re-elected?
2/28/2011 2:54 PM
Sure. Do you think we're likely to get one in the White House any time soon?

"I'd rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president," he told ABC's "World News" anchor Diane Sawyer in an exclusive interview today.

I guess he's changed his mind.  I think John McCain would do what he thinks is right rather than what would get him re-elected.

2/28/2011 3:57 PM

"You know, there is a tendency in Washington to believe our job description, of elected officials, is to get re-elected. That's not our job description," Obama said. "Our job description is to solve problems and to help people."

Odd choice of words.

2/28/2011 3:58 PM

"I will not slow down in terms of going after the big problems that this country faces," he said. "The easiest thing for me to do, Diane, would be to go small bore, avoid controversy, just make sure that everybody's comfortable and we only propose things that don't threaten any special interests in Washington. If you do that, then you can get a boost in the poll numbers."

Strange words from a man who seems to be doing that in this particular case.

Seated across from Sawyer in the White House, the president added, "I don't want to look back on my time here and say to myself all I was interested in was nurturing my own popularity."

Hmmmmm........

I believe that Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter and Ford all did what they thought was right for America,

We realize that you apply a different standard of conduct to people who support your leftist agenda than from Conservatives.

Conservatives are all evil, stupid or crazy. Just based on their worldview.

This post proves my point!

Goodness gracious, Mike, do you realize what you're saying? A politician's rhetoric may not be 100% in sync with his actions! Why, that would be the biggest news since Columbus sailed the ocean blue!

Stop the presses! Alert Ted Koppel!

Now I know you're just trolling.

So we just accept that we can't believe anything they say?
