Tea Party 4-18-11 Topic

ugh.... The NY Times owned Telegram put an absolute lie in the paper about it...

"Two police detail officers hired by the Worcester Tea Party, which organized the event and held a permit for the square, pushed the counter-demonstrators back. Several enraged tea party supporters tried to throw punches at their opponents, and people on both sides shouted obscenities."

There were not any punches thrown.  Not by either side.  There was definitely 2 herds of cats hissing at each other, but no scratching.

Yes, liar, it was a joke. A horribly racist joke.

**** off.
No it was not a horribly racist joke. There was no comment that would lead anyone to believe it was race based. Monkeys are humorous without any racial overtones.

Even if there was racial intent, which is not clear, this was mild at best.

Do you really believe that someone who sends this hates the black race?

And again making jokes about southerners being stupid inbred hicks is ok?
Yes, it was a horribly racist joke, liar. There is a long and rich history in America of comparing black people to monkeys as a way to dehumanize them, you ignorant ****.

I don't give a **** whether she sent that picture out of hatred or ignorance. It was vile, and people who do vile things - like send racist emails or lie constantly - should have their disgusting behavior tattooed on their ******* foreheads until, at the very least, they show genuine repentance.
And there is a long and rich history of using monkeys for non racial comedy!

Again there was nothing that connected this to Racism. No comments or captions. It was not grouped with other racist pictures.

Someone found it ammusing.

You are clearly outraged that people you dont like did something that bothers you.

Is it really impossible that a person with no history of racial bias just found the picture funny and passed it on without connecting the racial bias?

I just got back from the tea party rally (and the yearly viewing of Life of Brian during Lent).  Their message is pretty clear.

It doesn't matter who you vote for in November.  It matters who you vote for in the primaries.  Make sure that the GWB/McCain/Palin/Dole/Romney type does not win.
Palin gets lumped in with that group? I don't see much of a common element in that list. Who else is a 'do not want'? Pawlenty and Gingrich, presumably. Mitch Daniels?

Palin is now just like the others.  If she is out there stumping for McCain to another term in the Senate, then she is no better than the rest of them.  The whole lot of them are liberals.

Gingrich has issues with fidelity.  It doesn't make much of a difference to me, except he was not in an open marriage (like Bill and Hillary) and if you can lie to your spouse, how would that make me trust you?

I don't know a lot about Pawlenty or Daniels.  If they are serious in running, I will have to look into them.

What is clearly impossible is for you to just admit that someone on your team did something reprehensible, even by accident.

If they're on your team, you will lie and spin and do everything you can to defend them.

So it's just a question of whether you're tarred by the Washington insider establishment or not?

No question that I am ****** at the Washington establishment.

Nomar figured me out about 8 months ago.  He said "You really don't like anyone that is a politician, do you?"
4/19/2011 8:47 AM
That's gotta be coming uncomfortably close to leaving you with only Trump to support...
4/19/2011 12:18 PM
Trump is not running.
4/19/2011 1:16 PM
That'd be no fun.

Isnt that a simple out though?

I feel that you cannot just be against everyone. You have to be for people and solutions. Saying you wish everything was completly different isnt going to change anything.

You need to support the guys who are closest to you and work to change the system.

Actually it is just fairness on my part no matter who they are.

How many times have I defended something Obama did when he was getting flack.

Fairness and giving people the benefit of the doubt for a first offense is soemthing I like to do.

I realize that you can only see the world in terms of what you believe and what everyone else believes, but not all of us think like you!

Jinkies!

A plurality of Republican voters, 47 percent, said they believed Mr. Obama, who was born in Hawaii, was born in another country; 22 percent said they did not know where he was born, and 32 percent said they believed he was born in the United States.
