Mike, you're the one who doesn't know what human trafficking is. It's a far more awful thing than prostitution. I'd say "go look it up" but I'm pretty sure you won't bother. Feel free to keep lookng ignorant though.
True, 16-year-olds do stupid things. So do 26-year-olds, 36-year-olds etc. I don't see your point. If a state has declared that a 16-year-old is an adult, they are in fact free to do all kinds of stupid things. There's also been no discussion so far of the specific form legalized prostitution would take. An argument against letting 16-year-olds be legal prostitutes is not an argument against legalizing prostitution in general, it's an argument against letting 16-year-olds do it. A state's laws could easily raise the age at which one can enter the profession, just as a state's laws can raise the age at which someone can drink.
And yes, I believe reducing the wealth, power and influence of organized crime would make everyone safer. Do you disagree?
I think you need to look it up. But I'm sure you won't because you already know everything, right?
Swampy used "consenting adult" earlier. That's where I got 16 y/o. Take it up with him.
Until you prove wealth, power and influence of organized crime would be reduced by legalized prostitution, I don't see your point. Do you disagree?
I don't know everything, but I know the difference between prostitution and human trafficking. You clearly do not.
You keep trotting it out as an example, so I've taken it up with you. Prostitution could be legalized without letting 16-year-olds do it, since that seems to be one of your main objections to legalization. Problem solved.
Hmm, Mike's ignorant opinion versus the history of prohibition... I think I'll side with history and say yes, it's been proven that the wealth, power and influence of organized crime would decrease if prostitution were legalized..
