Obama can survive the occasional mistake. Palin lost that wiggle room with the whole "We can see Russia from here" line.
I think that's because everyone but FOX makes a big deal anytime a conservative makes an error.   Obama gets his child's age wrong, Biden sleeps thru hearings.  But this is swept under the rug.  Palin screws up North/South Korea and it's 4 days of news.

Obama getting his kid's age wrong is funny but only has implications when he gets home. Palin's screwup might have geopolitical ramifications.

While I tend to agree conservatives get tougher scrutiny than liberals from the mainstream media, it's a little disingenous to suggest Obama gets a free pass. Clinton certainly did not. Neither did Carter. And shrieking about bias in the media doesn't mask the fact that Bachmann and Palin look poorly prepared. They need to worry about improving rather than whining about the favourable treatment accorded to Obama.

What you must understand is, the right has found what they believe will be a winning strategy............VICTIMHOOD!
Ask swamp, he has been working it full time for several years now.

This is the kind of stuff we are talking about.

She shoots from the hip. She doesnt have 12 guys look over ever word she speaks to make sure that she stays on message. She is a real person, and sometimes real people confuse heros with serial killers.

It's obvious she needs at least one.

And real people don't confuse heroes with serial killers. Ever.
I believe neo-Nazis do. Whether they count as real people is, obviously, open to question.

Not having people do very basic research to prepare her messaging and brief her suggests Ms. Bachmann isn't prepared for prime time, which is why she is mocked by the media and shouldn't be treated as a serious candidate.
So having a knowledge of serious political issues is less important than a gafee about the Hometown of John Wayne?

She was making a simple speech and she got the city that John Wayne was born in confused. He was born a few towns over.

Again real people make these mistakes.

Obama on the other hand makes these mistakes with a gang of speech writers and 3 teleprompters.
She doesn't look ready for prime time. Full stop. You can whine about Obama making mistakes but that's not going to improve Ms. Bachmann's chances. And confusing John Wayne and John Wayne Gacy is a pretty big mistake to make. I'll leave it for others to decide whether Ms. Bachmann has knowledge of serious political issues. She certainly hasn't articulated an agenda beyond stating the Obama Administration is destroying America.

Lets talk about what makes a gaffe important.

Palin or Bachmann makes a slip and it gets to all the news outlets. They start to add up in the minds of people and they start to think you are a "flake".

On the flip side Obama, who is the president, makes a horrible gaffe addressing soldiers about a medal of honor winner. No coverage anywhere.

Maybe Obama isnt smarter than Bachman, he is just covered up better.
Wasn't Obama the editor of the Harvard Law Review? That's not a position that is conferred on dumbasses. Just saying.
That is a school thing.

Studied, taught, talked about stuff. All school stuff. He never did anything that he could really fail at. That is why even mild criticism seems to make him nuts.
Which is why he decided to run for president, a position where his thin skin wouldn't be tested and is a fail-safe job. Do you really think through this things before you post? You seem to lack a filter for critical thinking.

It's not that I'm enamoured with Obama -- I'm not a big fan. But having critics like you spout the rubbish that you do probably is the single strongest argument to re-elect him. RE-ELECT OBAMA AND **** OFF THE DUMBASSES.

Isn't that how Obama got elected?  McCain is just another Bush.   Seems like she's well aware of recent political history.

No, liar, they didn't say Palin didn't represent women.
Actually they said she doesnt represent us as Americans Women.

So from that we can assume that she feels that Palin does not represent women.

I cant believe you went through all the work of poking your head out of your hole for this!
I cannot believe your fat *** didn't snap a hammy making that leap.
So if I was making a leap, what is the most logical conclusion we can draw from their statement?

What would someone with no bias believe they meant?

I believe that my analysis was the straight line between 2 points.
Your "analysis" is based on a mistake assumption. Do they teach logic at Wayne State?

I dont want them to stop talking, I want America to stop listening.

And at least I have a degree in Political Science.

I used this when making excuses for Bush when the WTC came down.   The President is not a NFL QB.  He doesn't have to make split second decisions.   President Palin would not be screaming "BOMB SOUTH KOREA NOW!!!"     Well, she might but an advisor would say "I'm pretty sure you mean North Korea" and the missiles would hit the right target.

I don't think Obama gets a free pass.  No President does.  But the minor gaffes are overlooked by the vast majority of the media.   Getting his daughter's age wrong means nothing in the grand scheme of things.  However, if Palin referred to her husband as "Tom", Olbermann would want to know if she's having an affair.

Of course she never actually said that.

You are confusing her with Tina Fey.

Really, she didn't say that?

Obama was handed his state Senate seat. He won the Senate seat without a shot being fired. He never really had a job that had any kind of standard of performance. So take away school and what has he done.

Palin fought for everything she got.

Beauty Queen
PTA
Husbands business
Mayor
Governor
Head of Alaskan oil and gas Commission

She went out and took on life.

Oh my God. I can't stop laughing.

When I compare Obama to Palin I cannot stop laughing at the media portraying him as a genius and her as stupid. That is pretty funny.

This guy has never really accomplished anything on his own before running for President.
Yes, because beauty queen, PTA, working in her husband's business and getting herself appointed to a partisan commission rank as major life accomplishments. As opposed to being named editor of the Harvard Law Review. Jesus wept.

Believe it or not, but I'm a conservative and we need to purge this tendency to blame the media and take some ******* accountability for why we lost in 2008. Otherwise, Republicans trudging down the same well-worn path for 2012. The GOP need to give Americans a reason to vote for our side rather than ***** about Obama. And so far, I've seen very little from any of the candidates to suggest that's going to change.

I understand you need to stroke the crazies during primary season but you should also be articulating a positive vision to give people a reason to vote for you. That's what Obama did. That's what Bush did. That's what Clinton did. That's what Reagan did. These Tea Party retards are going to hamstring us again and it will be nobody's fault but our own. And we'll ***** about Obama, the media and everything else but point the finger at ourselves.

Hehe.  That's funny.  VICTIMHOOD.    From the party that claims anyone speaking ill of Obama is a RACIST!!!!!

Agreed the media has a double standard. I worked in the media for 10 years and trust me when I say it tends to be more liberal than not but the chief bias is always towards conflict and controversy regardless of party affliliation (ask Rep. Weiner, Clinton or any other scandalized Democratic politician). I now work in pr for the oil industry and it has a much stronger bias than the news media.

Part of the reason the media treat Obama's gaffes with a little more forgiveness is he looks assured even if he's making a mistake while Palin has never looked completely ready for prime time so the visuals are a lot more appealling. Maybe she had ****** media training or debate prep or whatever but she's looked wobbly whenever she's had to go off script. Obama doesn't. He might make gaffes but he looks composed when he makes them. Trust me, it makes a difference.
