What segment of people that work in broadway musicals are considered part of the "media"?  and why would anyone give a rats *** what someone in broadway musicals thought about politics?
I was just showing why a chart like that seems so important but isnt. It is AM radio.

Who listens to AM radio? FM I can see but AM? What, do you live amongst the Amish?

I listen to sport talk radio from 12 to 18 hrs a day. That is AM so I would not call it a dead technology at this point.

So we expect Rush to be for the Republicans.

Do we expect SNL to be for the Democrats?

Ford is clumsy, Bush is stupid and Palin is crazy. Where were the Carter jokes? Kerry Jokes? Gore Jokes?

I realize that asking for an Obama joke is impossible since the left almost burned the place down the one time they did an Obama skit that was actually critical of him. There can be no pop culture criticism of Obama!!

Funnily enough, I flipped channels and just found a Hammond/Seth Meyers sketch with Kerry (an awful Meyers) trying to avoid Gore's kiss of death endorsement.

It's not funny, but then, I didn't think much from that era of SNL was. Nonetheless it existed, despite swamp's absurd insistence that it didn't.

Oh hey, Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz can't make one minute through a sketch without cracking up. Ah, the good ole days when you didn't have to be a professional to be on the show.

So this portrays the candidate running as smart and a former candidate as negative.

how would that impact the election?

Why didnt they do a skit every week where Kerry would say stupid stuff he never said and did crazy things he never did?
7/23/2011 2:38 AM
No, Kerry was not portrayed as particularly smart (not that you could tell, really, given Meyers' ****** impression.) He tried to get out of the phone call by saying he was going into a tunnel and the call was breaking up, but rather than making crackling noises he just said the word 'crackle' over and over.

Of course the answer to "how would that impact the election?" is the same answer you were given when you whined about Fey's Palin impression. SNL does not have even a minor impact on elections, and never has. An SNL sketch is a trailing indicator, not a leading one. You won't accept this, of course, because it doesn't fit your world view. If SNL skits don't really matter, you think it undermines your claims of liberal persecution.

Rational people change their theories based on new facts. You try to change facts to fit your theories. It's maybe the principle reason why you lose pretty much every political argument you ever have on these boards, but conveniently it's also the principle reason why you don't think you lose them so it really works out for everybody. You remain the board's *****, so we get the entertainment value of your idiocy, and you never wise up to the fact that you are the board's ***** so you don't leave.

The proof is the fact that people started to think Palin was stupid after the skits.

Almost no one saw the Couric interview. The Russia thing was a minor throw away line. Tina Fey made "I can see Russia from my front porch" famous.

How about is Gerald Ford clumsy? This guy is probably one of the best atheletes to be President. Chase made him a klutz, during an election.

This wouldnt matter in 84 or 72. In close elections it makes a big difference.

And if people dont care about this, why is Rush a problem?
7/23/2011 3:48 PM
See?  This is where swampy is stupid and forces me to say it.

SNL is after viewers.  If the viewers think Ford stumbling out of an airplane is funny, SNL will play off it.   If the viewers think Obama has done nothing in his first year, SNL will play off it.   No idea how old you are but the media had a field day when Carter said a rabbit attacked him.  Why?  Because rabbit attacks are almost as rare as intelligent posts from you.

So we are asked to believe that the only thing that was funny week after week was Palin. All the screw ups of Obama were in no way funny? Logic would make that hard to believe.
7/24/2011 2:29 AM
Viewers found Palin funny.   As you can tell, making fun of Obama is met with cries of RACIST!!!!!!
7/24/2011 6:49 AM
Well, when you have a white guy do a really bad impression of an African-American, you're kind of begging for some controversy.
7/24/2011 11:58 AM
The bottom line though is that Armisen's Obama just isn't funny at all. It isn't scathingly accurate and it isn't wildly exaggerated. I don't think most people find the impression racist so much as they find it completely boring.
