President Obama and the Election of 2012 Topic

So we are asked to believe that it is a mere coicidence that for the 8 months around the election the only funny people were the Republicans? That SNL didnt think McCain was funny before he ran for president when he was criticizing Bush,  but after he tool on Obama he became a grumpy old man.

This just happened?

Can you really be so blind?

Good God.

Has it not occured to you, Prince Myshkin, that the mere fact that he was running for President made him more likely to be featured in an SNL skit?

I'm sure this isn't a complete list

Jon Lovitz as Michael Dukakis
Dan Aykroyd as Jimmy Carter
Norm Macdonald as Bob Dole
Chevy Chase as Gerald Ford
Phil Hartman as Ronald Reagan & Bruce Babbitt
Darrell Hammond as Al Gore
Hartman and Hammond as Bill Clinton
Dana Carvey as George H.W. Bush, Jerry Brown, Richard Gephardt & Ross Perot
Will Ferrell as George W. Bush
Al Franken as Paul Simon & Paul Tsongas
Dennis Miller as Gary Hart

Can you really be so dumb?

You have no ******* idea what you are talking about when it to comedy or SNL. None.

Can't find a clip of the skit, so the transcript will have to do.

O noes! SNL was spoofing McCain in 2000! Could it be that swamp doesn't have an encyclopedic knowledge of the show, and that his theories about it are bullshit?

So your proof is that during a former election they made both Republicans look bad?

Do you actually understand the point?
7/24/2011 6:26 PM
I can provide clips or transcripts from every single Presidential election where they make fun of every candidate. You have no point.
7/24/2011 6:43 PM
You just claimed SNL didn't target McCain when he was running against Bush. Are you going to admit you were wrong, or are you going to act like a fucktard?
7/24/2011 6:45 PM
I meant when Bush was president and McCain was the Maverick.

The media loved him then.

OK, do 2008.
7/24/2011 10:05 PM
Ah, you chose the fucktard route. Splendid.

Here ya go.
7/25/2011 7:24 AM
Was there ever any doubt about which route he'd choose?

So this, a skit designed to mock the media and the debate structure, and just happened to have Obama in it, is your evidence.

Do I need to show clips from multiple shows where Palin was actually attacked and made to look stupid?

Of course I dont, you know that happened.

"made to look stupid"?

That is called truth in advertising! It would be the same as "making" you look fat. Not so hard to do given the material one has to work with.

In an attempt to pull this discussion back from the abyss and somewhat on topic:

Did the House and Senate leaders really just come to an agreement on the debt ceiling, only to have President Obama say "No way"?

He knows that if this comes up next year during the election cycle, it can only make the party in "power" look bad.

Fer crying out loud - in the immortal words of a redneck comedian - just "Git R Dun!"

Curious question - since they knew this was coming, why is this not part of the budget process?  Why make it separate issues?  When you float a budget, make raising the debt limit part of it.
